Music talks and Sasquatch walks. That has always been Lucky’s musical motto. He’s been rompin’ and stompin’ through all kinds of Afrolistic grooves since the age of womb yrs. old, and since then until now has made writing, singing and playing his passion. Lucky’s first step onto the stage came in 1992 with Zionites, the Roots Rock Reggae band he founded a year earlier with his brother Seven and fellow roots lover Jeremy Lacinak.
Throughout the 90’s, Lucky toured the Mid-west on the college circuit, going through much
musical morphing and melding in the process, and jamming with an army of Cincy monsters such as the late Briggs Rehbun (who influenced and inspired Lucky heavily), Michael Shearer, brother Shake Spaulding, Mad Lydia, Joel "Crank-J" Cotton, Erick "Lars" Metzger, Heavy Weather, Barami Waspe, Lucious Brown, Don Gauck, the Wolf Brothers, the Blue Birds, and 7T-SLY, to name more than a few. Zionites snatched up a string of Cincinnati music awards from 1998-2001, and Lucky made steps to record his first solo album during this time. The result was the ’LIVING’ L.P., which might not have come about if it weren’t for the musical and $ contributions of Barami Waspe, Mark Santangelo and Joel Cotton: Mark produced LIVING, making it a truly unique debut L.P.
In 2002, Lucky attempted to release his 2nd C.D. ’DINOSAUR LOVE’, but the project was tainted by an unnamed force from the opposite side of the musical spectrum. However, Justin Jeffrie of 98 Degrees (a Cincy native) helped to redeem Lucky’s hopes for a fat new album. It was Justin who told Lucky to stop wasting money in other people’s studios and invest in his own gear, which was echoed by Lucky’s best friend, percussionist and Tech-Shogun Brian Losekamp. Lucky finally made this happen with the help of an old wizard by the name of Thunderpuss. Tech-Sorcerer Chris Rose helped Lucky through the initial period of "HOW ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH DO I WORK THIS STUFF", and Low Key bassist Nate Clark taught Lucky the finer points of utilizing the home studio. From all this came the ’LUCKY’ album (produced by Justin Jeffrie), which was released in 2004 and swiftly gained wide regional acclaim.
Since then Lucky has, with a lot of help, gotten his music to places like Holland, South Africa, Kenya, Brazil, Japan, and most recently New Zealand, thanks to friends Chaz and Suzi Cramp of musicvideovip.com. In 2006, Lucky released "THE HEART OF A GIRL", which showed Lucky at his finest so far. This album was co-produced by Low Key drummer Ian Hudgins, who wrote the greater part of the song "Fooled Again", and spent many hours immersed in the editing and alchemy of the tracks. Lucky performs regularly in Cincinnati with the Airwave Band (www.airwaveband.com), as well as with various artists like Michael Shearer and Joel Cotton. Lucky also makes yearly trips to L.A. and Lexington KY, and also N.Y.C. where he plays at the world famous Bitter End with Barami, cousin Pete Wood, Ian (who moved to Brooklyn in late ’06), Misty, and the Three Second Delay crew, to whom Lucky owes much for the super-kindness they have shown.
