Welcome to my world.......
Hello, everyone! I'm a singer/songwriter from the UK. I am at the beginning of my career and slowly things are happening for me. I am dedicated, hard working and determined to fulfill my dream. Currently I am working with Ben Christo, the lead guitarist in the band called The Sisters of Mercy and Greg Haver, the producer of the Manic Street Preachers. I have a lot of projects in the works and my new song will be ready in July. I am having promotional photoshoots after Summer. All good things to come. I realise I have to market myself and create the right image for myself and this is what I am discovering at the moment. This is a hard industry and I know I need to have the "full package". :-) I have written enough songs for my first album and slowly, but surely I intend on getting my music and my message heard.
What is my musical style...?
My music is dark, gothic rock mixed with classical backings, i.e. strings ,etc. If I compare myself to any other artists I would have to say, "Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Joan Jett (apparently), Within Temptation or Nightwish", however I believe I have my own unique style!!
What inspires you to write music...?
Most people ask me what inspires me to write a song and my honest answer is, LIFE. I'm a very passionate and emotional person and I express my feelings and past experiences through my music. My song "fall" is about the part of me that hates myself and I hope that one day I will be able to ("fly away, ill resist you some day") break free from it.
Many people ask me how to write a good song. I have no idea, it just comes to me. I can be in the bath, on the train, falling asleep and suddenly I get an idea, hear a beat and a melody and I have to quickky record it. The next day I listen to it and make a song around it.
What do you do for hours on Myspace....?
Haha! I spend hours networking and getting my name out there in hope to be recognised by labels, other artists for collaborations, magazines, photographers and other business oppertunities. I have spent about two years getting to where I am and my hard self-promotion is paying off. I have fans around the world and lots of people saying they want my songs on their IPod. It's insane! ALL THROUGH THIS WEBSITE. Everyone does it this way these days. The internet is huge, what better way to get yourself noticed?
I also spent my time helping youngsters who self harm and suffer from depression. I have a blog dedicated to help sufferers out there and a Myspace Page called "EMJ'S Haven" for people who have no one to talk to and who are suffering. I am blessed with a large friend count and big fan base so if I can make someone smile by just a message or by just listening or giving some logical, helpful advice to someones situation..... then my job in this world is done.
Musical/Acting background....
I studied in one of the best Drama Schools in London, I have worked with a professional actor called Paul Gregory. I have had a lot of experience performing in front of all sorts of different crowds. I love Opera and have had professional singing lessons since a very young age, including training in The Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, Junior Guidhall School of Music and Drama and been part of many acting groups such as Stagecoach, dramarama and has had one to one voice training for a number of years.
