Zoot

Zoot started off as a cleaner in New York state back in the 60's before, a-blowin' sax in Manattan Transfer in New York City back in the late early 70's...quoted saying "I can't recall man, so long ago now, huh crazy cats". He was booted out due to his persistant rollin' "tobacco" between numbers and failing to wear the required uniform correctly (tie around head instead of neck etc). Then followed a brief spell as tenor sax player in the Chicago based blues band Shuntin' Stevens and the Relapse Brothers before being snapped up by Electric Mayhem Group (who starred in The Muppet Show TV series in the 1970's) this was a great period for Zoot, real name Zoothelonius Van der Zang or just ZOOT to his friends. After the Muppets came his Jazz phase and the release of Zoot - Zoot's UpSide my head in 1983 followed by Zoot - Chic n' soup in a basket in 1985. Then formed solo project ZOOT with some of his old buddies from The Electric Mayhem last year and will release Zoot - Dracula very soon!
