About Me

-------------------
The Sociables as GO Magazine's Maestro of the Week-- On The Sociables' MySpace page you'll find a poster for the group's June 9 show at the Bar Next Door that sums up the group's musical vibe. It's '70s blaxploitation-era cool, with a woman kneeling down in heels that could gouge a cinder block and an afro that reaches for the sky. The band carries on this funky, soulful hip hop with a combination of live instruments straight out of a Curtis Mayfield backup band and a rap style and cadence not unlike a slowed-down, early-'80s Kurtis Blow. (Check out the song "Valentine" to see what we mean.) We're ready to kick ass like Shaft, take names like Foxy Brown and funk out like The Sociables, our MySpace Maestro of the Week. Any takers?
