Markskillz, Good lookin with the interview with Reggie Wells my man, It's very good to hear Reggie Wells mention how the Dance music and Hip hop scene were once strongly connected hard in the 70's and 80's in New York, I remember hanging at Club 371 more than a few times back in 1977, And, Between Hollywood,Eddie Cheeba(It gets no sweeter),Reggie Wells, And Junebug(Rip), Those cats tore **** up in there hard, To me, Reggie Wells was one of the best dj's in New York back in the late 70's to mid 80's, (Along with Tee Scott,Larry Levan,Nicky Siano,Francios K,Kenny Carpenter, Walter Gibbons,Jelly Bean Benitz, etc), Reggie Wells was one of the few cats who could rock any type crowd(Dance music crowd,Hiphop Crowd,Stickup kid crowd,Commercial crowd,Etc), And, As much work that Reggie Wells put in the Club 371, The spot that truely put him onstage to me was Justines in Manhattan on 35thst and 8thave(Down the Block from Madison Square Garden), In the early to mid 80's, Justines was a commercial spot where you would see people such as Phyllis Hyman(Rip),Greg Hines(Rip),Ray Williams,Michael Ray Richardson,Sly Williams,Frankie Crocker(Rip),Etc, But, Reggie Wells had the crowd rocking from the time you stepped in the place to be on the regular all night hard playing everything from (Dancemusic,Classics,Rock,Jazz,Rap, Reggae,R&B) Reggie Wells also mixed a few times on WBLS doing Guests spots in the early 80's, Along with alot of the best cats(Dj's), In New York at that time in the early 80's, I'm glad to hear that Reggie Wells is still on the scene(Much Respect to the Dow Twins on the Promotion side at Justines back then, Also, The cat who made the joint 'Pipeline', Is Bruce Johnston who used to be down with the Beach Boys from the 60's/70's. Much Respect Mike Barnes
