This mission is exactly what Sol Real Records, President and Creative Director, Jeff Redd felt when he founded the company in 2003. "I always enjoy taking new talent and introducing it to the world." Jeff Redd has been doing that for the last 17 years with the discovery of Mary J. Blige and executive producing for such artist as: Kci and JoJo, Regina Belle, Bobby Brown, Field Mob to name a few. "Sol Real Records has been a vision I’ve had for a while but I wanted to go inside the industry to really see how it worked." He started out as a performer and then he began writing and producing on SWV's initial album. He then went on to work at MCA records for 7 years and during his tenure he won several awards (American Music Awards, Grammy nomination, Billboard Awards, etc...). For the average executive, that would've seemed like a lot, but for Jeff Redd that was only the beginning.Sol Real Records vision is to create memories for the world and play an intricle part in the resurgence of music that touches the soul. "I feel that timing is everything and if you really look at the charts today it is full of fluff" says Jeff Redd. "I am noticing that the consumer has come to the point where they're paying for satellite radio and watching videos via the internet where they control exactly what they want to see and hear." Sol Real Records has put together a roster of talent that has people buzzing already. With the current artists; Blaq Rose featuring Who'z Who (4 male group from Youngstown Ohio by way of Los Angeles) whose sound has been compared to Jodeci and the harmonies of the Delfonics, FOREVER (male solo from Macon Ga. by way of Atlanta) whose sound has been labeled psychadelichiphopsoul, Akili (male solo from the Bay Area by way of Los Angeles) who has a rich falsetto that is reminiscent of Switch and El Debarge, and Starr James (The female Hip Hop sensation straight from the DEC, Decatur, GA) whose has been crowned the 2005 underground artist of the year and whose music has been dubbed hiphopsoulconscieouscrunk, Sol Real Records is poised to bring the world- music that is genuine, true, and authentic or as Jeff would say, “Sol Real”. With the soon to be released, "Essence of Soul", a R&B compilation which introduces 3 full songs and 3 snippets from each of his RnB artist and the forthcoming Starr James single release “Girlz N’ Da Hood”, Sol Real Records is ready to bring the vision of Jeff Redd to fruition. The approach is extremely reminiscent of the method Berry Gordy took with his acts; introducing them to the world, one hit at a time and then rolling out the projects after they've created a buzz.Jeff Redd has also went to the extent of creating his very own venue by partnering up with LoveLife to have an, Open Mic night at Cozy's in Sherman Oaks, Ca. They have built an audience of 150-200 dedicated music lovers who come out every other Tuesday to enjoy live soulful music. "This has always been a dream! To have a venue where I could discover new talent and provide a window for the listening audience that gives them a view of the ever-changing landscape of musical diversity in the art and entertainment frame that touches their soul”.
