DJ Lady D has been a fixture of the New York City entertainment circuit for many years, and as a female DJ has been an exception in the male dominated genre of club mixing. She began spinning records at community centers and house parties back in 1991, providing her with an opportunity to land her first professional gig at Sweetwater’s Night Club. This led to college radio slots at Fordham University in the Bronx and Yale University in Connecticut. Her talent as a Disc Jockey carried her into the college circuit and opened doors for many private parties throughout the tri-state area. In 1995, she became the house DJ at NYC’s famed Crane Club. Through this venue, she garnered the opportunity to work events for major celebrities such as Puff Daddy, Russell Simmons, Whitney Houston and many more. As her notoriety and reputation grew event planners began to recognize Lady D as a major talent with an unparallel work ethic. Over the years she has worked with top promoters at some of the largest venues in NYC including the Apollo Theatre, Madison Square Garden, The Roxy and The Roseland Ballroom. She has also performed in Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and West Virginia. In addition to DJing, Lady D is very involved in the industry where she recently served as a judge for 2 years in the “FEMMIXX†(female DJ contest) awards and is a long time member of the SURE Record Pool. In 2006 she received the “DJ of The Year Award†from NYC’s top Promoters. Lady D is also an accomplished producer and remixes working with several independent artists. Lady D recently became a part of the 98.7 KISS FM family as the first female Mixmaster. She has been working with the #1 station for Old School and today’s R&B since the 2005 Labor Day weekend.
