About Me

STYTZ started his career in US-Clubs. In the 60ies, he joined the R&B Corporation in Schwäbisch Gmünd near Stuttgart, Germany. They used to play Chuck Berry, Pretty Things and later on Jimi Hendrix stuff. With this band he supported stars like Brian Auger, Rory Gallagher and Alexis Korner. In 1969 he founded ERNA SCHMIDT; with that band he toured all over Germany and they were offered a recording deal after several days of playing at the Quartier Latin in Berlin. The group appeared on TV shows and was produced by the Popshop studios of the Sudwestfunk in Baden-Baden.In the 70ies, STYTZ toured with different bands as for example Hellmut Hattler. At the same time he worked as a studio musician and wrote songs for the album "Big City" which he recorded in 1979.In 1982 Jack Bruce once invited him to play live performances. In 1983 Hubert met the talented lyric-writer Peter Graf. They got on well together right from the beginning up to the present day.In 1985 STYTZ founded the STYTZ SYNDICATE among others with the saxophon player Günther Reger. The band was touring a lot and released the live album "Still Hungry".In 1991 the album "Best Before" was published by in-akustik. This release was given an enormous feedback by music magazines and branch critics. Especially the single title "This must be everything" had a lot of airplay and TV appearances. The band presented their new album on a german tour. And for this release a documentary was produced by the Suddeutscher Rundfunk TV station, directed by Dieter Zimmermann. In the 90ies, STYTZ shared the stage with Willy DeVille during the Southern Comfort tour and afterwards was invited to open shows for the New Orleans Revue featuring Dr. John and others. In summer 2000 STYTZ was support act at the Jamboree Festival featuring Van Morrison and others. On the 7th of July 2001, STYTZ and his band were "Special Guest" at the Bob Dylan Open Air concert in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. In July 2001 STYTZ released the CD "Flame Of Love". Beside the completely new recorded title track, this CD contains remastered recordings taken from the vinyl records "Big City" and "Still Hungry" which have been released on CD for the first time.In 2005 he supported Willy DeVille & The Mink DeVille Band on their "The Crow Jane Alley Tour 2005", and toured again in March 2006 in Holland.
