Raised in South Central, Los Angeles, DJ Nickiee was an exceptional student and received a scholarship to attend The Center for Early Education and Marlborough School in West Hollywood, CA. In her youth, she was a student at Marla Gibb's Crossroads Academy for acting and was represented by Tony Kellman & Arletta. After graduating from college with a B.A. in Economics from New York University, she later received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver. Even while excelling in her academics, Music always molded DJ Nickiee's life.
As an avid "hip-hop head," she has collected music since New York hip-hop was played on Los Angeles' KDAY AM radio station during a time where the New York sound had not penetrated the West Coast market. With music knowledge base that extends beyond her years, DJ Nickiee attended Michael Jackson, Rick James, and George Benson concerts since the age of three with her youthful mother whose vinyl and eight tracks heavily influenced DJ Nickiee's love for music.
In her college years, DJ Nickiee was a frequent visitor at 89.1 FM show, "New York Live," which broke such artists as Jay-Z, the Fugees, Capone n Norega, and the Wutang Clan. She constantly watched 89.1 DJs, Mayhem and DJ Riz of the Crooklyn Clan, but female deejays were not taken seriously at that time.
Over the past decade, DJ Nickiee has continued to focus on her legal studies but continued to develop her musical ear and is frequently asked by renowned producers and rappers about her thoughts regarding their music because her appreciation, love, and knowledge of hip-hop and music in general is so profound.
After being mentored by a legendary DJ, she decided to transition an age old hobby into a career. Nickiee has rocked clubs in New York and Europe such as the 40/40 Club, Runway, Origine, Madison, and Club Passage exemplifying that she can work any crowd. She has spun at special events in entertainment and media such as Kanye West’s Platinum Party, Erykah Badu Concert After-Party, Soft & Beautiful Skincare Fashion Show, Simon and Shuster’s “Marvelous World†Book Release Party, and the Ghost Ball for the non-profit organization, Safe Horizon.
Aside from spinning on the ones and twos, DJ Nickiee works at HOT 97 FM and is the writer and producer of Rock the Party and is the official DJ for Fulani Clothing located in Vienna, Austria, and the founder of a female DJ crew called “Miss DJsâ€. DJ Nickiee is destined to be one of the most recognized and technically skilled female DJs in the world and more.
