About Me

I am a hot, handsome, royally bred 9-year-old Quarter Horse stallion. I demand a $950 breeding fee. My father is the sire of sires & All-Time Leading Quarter Horse sire, First Down Dash. My mother is Shiney Miles, a stakes winning mare whose sire is Magical Mile, a Thoroughbred racehorse. I raced at Los Alamitos race course, in California, earning $43,758, competing against some tough horses. I won two races and I'm a multiple stakes performer, having placed 5th in the Kindgerten Futurity, finalist Governor's Cup Futurity, etc.
I'm 16.1 hands high, I weigh probably 1350#. My conformation is practically flawless.
When I was sold as a yearling in a California racehorse sale, I was purchased for $130,000 by Hall of Fame trainer and recognized horseman, D. Wayne Lukas. He knows what a good horse looks like and he liked what he saw in me.

My Interests

Mares, good feed, mares, getting my butt and back scratched, mares, exercise, a nice blanket in the winter, getting my hair trimmed, more exercise, mares. The mounting dummy at the vet's is pretty sweet, too.

I am interested in horseracing -- now that I am retired from racing, I am most interested in my sons & daughters & their racing experiences. My oldest foals were 2-year-olds in 2007 & small number of them (just 4) raced. From those 4 were 2 winners, 4 race money earners, 4 ROM (race Register of Merits) & 1 3-time stakes finalist. My 2nd crop of foals will race this year. I wish for my sons & daughters not only speed, but strength & courage, as well. I hope they have the hearts of some of their great ancestors -- & may they stay healthy & sound throughout their careers!

My son A NEWS STREAK outrunning a horse by champion Stoli and leading sire Check Him Out!

My oldest son (2 years old in 2007), A NEWS STREAK, in the winners' circle after winning his first race on May 28, 2007!

My 2-year-old daughter GOTTA NEWSFLASH ("Kate") winning a race at Lone Star Park, in Texas, November 30, 2007.

I love learning about the lives of my ancestors, great Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, royal horses with big hearts. And because of superb genetics, I like to dabble in philosophy, poetry, history, religion and science. (Not math -- the only math I need is enough to be able to count how many mares are in my "harem" and how to calculate a speed index!)

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet beautiful (I especially like gray) mares with nice pedigrees. I especially like mares that can run fast. I like big mares with lots of body, mares that are good producers.

THIS BABE IS NEWS at 1-week of age, April 6, 2008. "Harley" is by Rare News & out of This Babe is Royal by This Snow is Royal.

This is what your horse will see when you race against Rare News sons & daughters! (This is "Harley" at 3-days-of-age.)

IN MOZAMBIQUE (we call her Mozy), a 14-month-old filly out of Gotatickettowin, by Chicks Beduino. (She was named In Mozambique in honor of Brinton, who was serving a mission in Mozambique when she was foaled.) Mozy will race in 2008.

BLUES NEWS, my 2007 daughter out of Charlys Ragtime Band.

"Maggie" (SHEZ MAKIN NEWZ), an April filly out of Kaweah Cash.

Something to Think About

Music:

Race track tunes -- I have very ecclectic musical taste, actually.

Movies:

Dreamer (love the mare that stars in that one), Seabiscuit, Flicka, Hilalgo. Love the movie Gladiator.

Television:

TVG -- really like watching the races! In 2007 one of my daughters and 4 or more of my sons will be old enough to race (they are in training now) -- and I hope to see them on TV! I get a kick out of Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal, CSI and The History Channel.

Books:

Don't get time to do much reading. When I have time to browse the Internet, I like this site www.fasthorses.biz.

Heroes:

My daddy, First Down Dash. He is THE GREATEST! My grandfather, Dash For Cash -- incredible horse! You can read more about my heros at www.circledhorses.com.

My sire, the great First Down Dash, All-Time Leading Quarter Horse sire, and my dam, the beautiful stakes winner Shiney Miles, daughter of Magical Mile TB, my grandsire, the legendary Dash For Cash -- these forebears and the many others, whose speed, conformation, disposition and heart are in my blood -- are my heroes!

My Favorite Humans

Way back before I was part of their lives, "my people" had ways to get around, and they had horses, but what did they ever do without me, RARE NEWS?
