Television:
Hardly ever watch it as l hate adverts. There's 90% crap on anyway. l tend to work on an evening in my studio and listen to music unless l am out with friends or reading or visiting my very handy and far too near local pub. But if anyone finds anything interesting on their box (cough) let me know. Ohh! Spaced and the LEXX (Lexx series 1,2,3, are kick-ass sci-fi), Battlestar Galactica (new series 1,2) 'The Mighty Boosh' l tend to get all these on DVD or friends tapes them for me. History programmes are good like Nigel Spivey’s ‘How Art made the World’. Édouard Lock's revolutionary Marriage of Modern dance and Ballet ‘Amelia’ with the soundtrack of The Velvet Underground. Jeffrey Lieber & J.J. Abrams ‘LOST’ (DVD) Outstanding, intelligent, layered writing and good quality acting all round. There are multiple mysteries here, and for every answer we get, more questions emerge. Very popular and deservedly so . . . Heroes:
My daughter This is a working full book layout for Bryan Talbots new graphic novel 'Alice in Sunderland' due out for print in March 2007 by Dark Horse comics and Jonathan Cape publications. all work both photography/art/logos were created by my work and digital art. The rough pencil sketch was divised by Bryan Talbot/ OK above is the start of my silent epic called ‘Shadowplay’© it’s a slow burner graphic novel l started back at the beginning of the millennium and now have 11 pages finished out of 16, basically it’s 16 panels per page, with16 pages to finish in a 12†inch format (my old homage to vinyl format) tho l have thought about a 7†version! basically l created this out of love of my love for comics from the late 80’s and early 90’s and it’s iconoclasms. One thing that always bothered my about comics was the speech balloons’ so mine has none, even at university years back l made a point of working in a narrative of telling a story without the written word within graphics, (tho l did do a one page panel with speech balloons in art and braille as a project). l’ve never liked speech balloon though! (most need them thouht l know) Anyway my little strange tale is a sort of weird Disney ‘Phantasia’ tale with a dash of elements that visually l’ve loved l guess. l’ve really thought my work was not good enough untill lately then l read a few graphic novels that l thought “god these are bad, mines better†and l dont pretend to be clever, my work is a flow of the imagination and a freefall that l hope opens gates (as does the story) plus it’s hard to silhouette all the story but l hope it works, l know this sample is small and detail may be lost for you to view but l hope you like it Above:My dear friend Motoko Suhara (Moon-eyes),not only a stunning model but full-time Professional Piano and Violinist to some of Japans top music venue establishments and hotels.
