About Me

3AM (Never Felt So Good) - Live @ Hertford Corn Exchange
So Sick - Live @ St. Mary's School
Step Back - Live @ Harlow Square
Black Hearts & White Lies was started by Ben and John who grew up together in Enfield. Originally called "Ex-Directory" They was just 3 guys in a bedroom jammin away, trying to make music! Bassists and vocalists came and went but in the end, it was decided the best thing to do was to just call it a day.
Late 2006 however, (sick and tired of putting off the band for personal reasons) they decided to get to work on some new material. New songs were being made every week and the name Black Hearts & White Lies just seemed to fit.
Patrick and Louis had also grown up together and swapped sandwiches at a young age.
Pat and Lou had always been involved in something musical together, their previous band "Raket Bat" was a success but only playing 6 times with friends Alfie Oake and Jake Brimson, in the end the band didn't work out. Lou and Pat joined another band "Yesterdays Destination" with other friends Josh Nunz and Jayden Compson which did not last long.
Early 2007, BHWL (still only Ben & John) put up an advert on Myspace calling out for a bassist and vocalist. By chance, Lou's mum happened to see the ad and the next week, Black Hearts & White Lies were complete!
The first practice session together, everyone knew that this was the band they all wanted to be. Songs just seemed to write themselves and hardly any material was discarded. Before they knew it, the band was offered a small set at a newly opening studio in North London. The set went down well and feedback was very positive.
The first set gave all the members the incentive to work hard and really set the seeds for something big to come!
Since then, the band have been setting their targets high with new material, and are currently working towards releasing an EP.

"Was it something you heard? Was it something you saw? Black Hearts are a combination of both. They are a product to show the world the British have a hold on alternative rock. BH & WL play guitar fused uber-fast pop punk with lyrics that remain thoughtful and relevant. Rock and roll has never been dull, and black hearts are one of the reasons why. Having previously won a battle of the bands down in their native surrey, it was Ben with the sticks in his hands that made them stand apart."
