Stage 1 Showcase
Nylon Sky are like a combination of Rage Against The Machine and CKY with an emphasis on the word ‘like’, because originality is a concept that makes bands worth listening to. The songs were involving and you found yourself listening rather than being consumed by the music. What makes Nylon Sky so different? They don’t have a bassist. Surely the band would suffer without such a crucial instrument? They don’t. They played like they were already headlining the Surface Unsigned Festival in September.
BBN REVIEW
Up last were a band by the name of Nylon Sky. Their offering was somewhat different to everything else tonight. A fusion of rock and rap in a way that can only be loosely associated to Linkin Park. But that association is weak at best, theres no synth or scratching and no Chester Bennington style vocals. So maybe they are nothing like Linkin Park after all.
These guys are simply unique, at times melodic, at times heavy, sometimes more rock than rap, other times more rap than rock. Now I know what you are thinking, “Linkin Park, MC Lars or Limp Bizkit, we‘ve heard it all before“. NO NO NO you couldn‘t be more wrong!!! Nylon Sky are nothing like this, you will have to see them to see just how they have created their own musical niche. There is no way that this band can be pigeon holed into a specific genre or sound.
Tied in with a great show of stage presence you cant help but love this band, and judging by the crowd response I am not the only person thinking this. Their front man knows how to deliver a live show, and tied in with a group of great musicians they deliver an aggressive energy fuelled set from start to end. It was really a great way to end an all round entertaining evening. There is defiantly something going for “Nylon Skyâ€, though my only fear is that they may be held back by peoples misconceptions of their sound. Give these guys a chance and I promise that you will not be disappointed.
