Alisha Pillay is a 16-year-old singer/songwriter from Vancouver, BC. At the early age of seven, Alisha began taking dance, piano and voice lessons. Music quickly became her passion and, with great determination to improve and expand her abilities, she began writing her own songs by age ten.
Some of Alisha's achievements to date include winning David Foster's Opportunity of a Lifetime Contest, the Shaw Star Discovery contest, and most recently, a scholarship to acclaimed Berklee College of Music. Alisha has also been fortunate to share the stage with Josh Groban, Renee Olstead and Sarah McLachlan.
Serious about her singing career, Alisha is always striving to improve. She currently studies voice with internationally renowned jazz vocalist and vocal teacher, Dee Daniels and with vocal teacher Spencer Welch. She has also trained with acclaimed vocal pedagogue, Joseph Shore. Alisha continues to expand her songwriting and piano skills and has worked with songwriter/producer Dave Pickell as well as Production teams Bananatoons and SA Trackworks. Alisha also studies hip-hop dance and has recently began taking classical guitar lessons. On top of all of her musical involvement and accomplishments, Alisha maintains an honor roll standing in high school.
