Nothing is Impossible

About Me

Originally from Vancouver, BC, Rachel Suter lives by the words Nothing is Impossible as her anthem for life. Learning at a very young age the importance of following her dreams, Rachel was not afraid to do just that so in 2004 she packed her bags and headed east to Toronto to further pursue her career. With exotic looks originating from her British and Bolivian background, Rachel is no stranger to the stage. She first began her journey at the age of 3 appearing in TV film Non-Subject. That experience left something to be desired. At 5, Rachel was singing in school talent shows and performing with the Canadian Ice Dance Theatre as a figure skater. At 7, Rachel began piano lessons, which would win her many awards from competitions throughout the years. Rachel wrote her first song when she was 9.Throughout high school, Rachel became involved with a number of music programs including recording arts and formed a few high school bands. In 2001, a local producer heard a clip of her voice on a track which she had recorded as a group project for her high school recording arts class and immediately wanted to work with her. Together they recorded Rachel's first professional demo.In 2002, after graduating and winning a district performing arts scholarship, Rachel continued to write, record and perform. That year she traveled to Seattle to perform at the Experience Music Project, where she was a big hit.In 2003, Rachel met music manager Jeff McGiverin and the two instantly clicked. Immediately Jeff and Rachel went to work on finding other musicians to form a band. Rachels first live show was a 40 minute set at the Maple Ridge Jazz and Blues Festival. In early 2004, Rachel continued to build her following, performing in various competitions and open mic's in and around the Vancouver area. In April, Rachel was selected as a finalist (top ten), then into the top 4 and finished as runner-up in CTV's and 96.9 Jack FM's Vancouver Idol Competition. In the late spring and summer of 2004, Rachel was asked to perform the National Anthem (Canadian and American) during the opening ceremonies for the Vancouver Whitecaps at Swanguard Stadium for crowds of 4,000-5,000 people. These days Rachel shows no sign of slowing down. She has been seen performing at venues such as the Reverb and various other well known venues in and around Toronto and has had the opportunity to open for James Bryan (The Philosopher Kings/Prozzak) on several occasions as well as EMI recording artist Dayna Manning.Last summer she was featured as an opener for the legendary David Wilcox and following that she traveled home to BC and then Montreal and New York for a few more performances.Rachel is currently writing and recording new material and working with Moka Only from the multi-award winning group the Swollen Members.Ranging from Rock/Pop to R&B and Soul, this young pianist, guitarist, singer and songwriter sings it all, and writes it all. From catchy signature songs, to her amazing voice, drive and growing fan base, it is only fair to say that you'll be hearing a lot more from this true up and coming sensation!
