About Me

Welcome to the fireside! This is a new beginning for us. The first thing that you may notice around here is the de-individualization of this particular myspace page. We are now proud to point out that this site represents the broader happenings of the organization and not just one person. Contributions toward it's content will be made by numerous people... friends of the Fireside.
My name is Luke Renner. I am the mediator of this site and director of operations for Fireside International, a non-profit media organization. Presently, we are heavily engaged in a directive to help Haiti and her beautiful people by creating high-quality media materials that will in some way promote future successes... small or great. For more information on the organization, check out our website at www.firesideinternational.com I should probably also take this opportunity to tell you that we are gearing up for a very busy 2008 season. As such, we could really use your financial support. If you have any charitable monies that you would like to donate, please visit the website and make a donation. For an update on specific happenings, check our blog regularly.
Contibuting parties presently are:
- Luke Renner
- Spencer Melson
More will be added soon!
Thanks again for your support. We will be keeping you posted on where we are headed and what is happening.
Cheers!
Luke

Here are a couple of 1-minute short films that I recently felt compelled to upload to YouTube.
Feel free to share them with anyone.

When I'm not doing humanitarian work, sometimes I am fortunate enough to create art that allows me to explore the dark heart of man. Here is a piece that I produced, directed, and edited for Universal in 2006. I think that by being honest about what we are capable of as humans... only then can we be free to fully acknowledge (and ultimately embrace) our need for something greater than ourselves.
Again, feel free to share.

Arundhati Roy - Come Septmeber Speech

In this acclaimed Lannan foundation lecture from September 2002, Roy speaks poetically to power on the US' War on Terror, globalization, the misuses of nationalism, and the growing chasm between the rich and poor. With lyricism and passion, Roy combines her literary talents and encyclopedic knowledge to expose injustice and provide hope for a future world.
My friends, you REALLY need to set aside an hour of your life sometime and listen... REALLY LISTEN to this speech.
