Lets Go to Israel!!!!I am personally escorting a group to Israel on March, 2nd, 2008.
We fly New York to Tel Aviv, Israel, returning March 9th. We are going to see the great sites, with some very special extra's. Even if you have been to Israel before, this tour will offer some things that no doubt, you have never seen or heard on a tour before.
Mar 2 – 9, 2008 - from $1,816 per person
Led by Bishop Mark
* 1 night Bedouin Tent
* 2 night Tiberias
* 3 nights Jerusalem
1) New York to Tel Aviv
2) Your first day you will travel from Tel Aviv down to Ein Gedi at the Dead Sea where David had his midnight confrontation with King Saul. We will finish the day with a nice visit and swim if you like in the Dead Sea. We then travel to a special campsight, and will be immersed in the culture and atmosphere of the Desert Wilderness with a comfortable nights stay in a Bedouin Tent, a real treat that others tours don't offer.
3) You awake the next morning to the smells and sounds that Moses and the Israelites would have experienced, and after breakfast we head out across the desert on camel back to Masada. Don't worry, it's a piece of cake and pretty much anybody can do it.
We arrive at Masada, the final fortress against the Romans with a magnificent view of the Dead Sea and surrounding area. You'll see the remains of one of the oldest churches in Israel atop this historical site. We'll discuss baptism in Jesus day and it's practice by the Jews and early Christians.
We travel later that day to Beit She'an, one of the best preserved and largest cities of the Roman and Byzantine times, and see a Roman city from Jesus times. We finish the day with baptism in the Jordan river for those who desire it.
4) Wednesday we are in the Galilee area. We start with the Mount of Beatitudes, then north to Caesarea Phlippi, near Mt. Hermon and the Lebanon border. It is here that Peter made his profession that Jesus was the Christ. Then over to the Golan Heights, taken from Syria during the 6 Day War in 1967. We will overlook the battlefield and have a retired Colonel from the Israeli army describe the battle that he himself fought in.
Then we stop at an Israeli winery to see the progress of the Jewish people who are again growing the fruit of the vine in the Holy Land. In the afternoon we visit the sight of Gegesa Demoniac, to see the spot where Jesus cast out the legion of demons into the swine. And we finish the day in Capernaum with a visit to St Peters house, and see the village that Jesus made his home, with evening candlelight services.
5) Thursday after breakfast we travel to Cana, where Jesus obeyed His mother and performed his first miracle, turning water into wine. Then to Nazareth, Jesus childhood home and visit the church of Transfiguration. Then, a special treat, we stop at Megiddo, home of Armegeddon. I will explain the history of the site as we look out over the valley of Jezreel and dicuss how the bible explains the final battle will occur.
After 1 final stop at Gideon Springs, we push our pilgrimage onto Jerusalem, the Holy City where we will have dinner at the hotel that is only blocks from the old city walls.
6) Friday is a most special day, the tour has been planned especially so that you can be in Jerusalem on Friday, as the city is bustling with preparations for the Sabbath. Its a hectic time, and most tours are not in Jerusalem on this day, but this is just the time that you need to see to experience the real flavor of the Holy City, as close as we can to how Jesus would have known it. We begin the morning at the Western Wall, the wailing wall, you'll prepare your prayers ahead of time on sheets of paper, we'll travel to wall, and after preparation, we'll offer our prayers for our family and loved ones in a most special way. Then on to the pools of Bethesda, singing in St Anne's church. Then on to the Mount of Olives, the Palm Sunday Way to the Garden of Gethsemene, prayer in the garden and in the church of All Nations. We'll visit Caiphus house where Jesus was held prisoner, as we prepare for final walk of Christ, the Vis Dolorosa. We'll leave the Fortress of Pontius Pilate, join the traditional Friday pilgramage that Jesus walked, see the stations of the Cross and finish with a visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the tomb of Christ.
7) Saturday leads us out into another special treat. Bethlehem to visit the church of the Nativity. What a special treat this is these days, and perfectly safe, not to worry, and we have orthodox friends in Bethlehem to greet us. Then on to the Ella Valley, something not done on most tours, the spot where David fought Goliath, a very unique experience as you pick small stones just like the ones David used to victory. Our final stop of the day is at the ancient church found at Emmaus, where Jesus met the disciples on the road. See a 3rd century baptismal font. And then back at the hotel for a farewell dinner and a time to break bread together.
8) Sunday we transfer back from the hotel to Tel Aviv airport for the flight back to New York.
We can hardly wait, you don't want to miss this.
