About Me

Nick Hutchinson started playing guitar at the age of 20. He has lived in several states and has held a variety of jobs. He moved to Colorado in 1996. He moved to Denver (from Boulder) in 2002. Nick works as a music journalist and has played in several bands, including Tucker, Li'l Piggy, The Dallmans and Q.
Q is Dan Merwin, John Bigger, John Curry and Nick Hutchinson. The group's repertoire ranges from its original compositions to the music of Bob Marley, the Grateful Dead, Phish, JJ Cale, Bob Dylan and other roots influenced artists.
Lil Piggy grew out of the weekly open jams at Quixote's True Blue in Denver, where Nick teamed up with guitarist Aaron Reyes. The Pig takes its cues primarily from the good ol' Grateful Dead but also delves into the music of Santana, the Rolling Stones and The Band, among many others. Piggy shows have featured sit-ins by local Denver musicians including Damon Wood (former guitarist for the James Brown Band, now bandleader of Harmonious Junk), keyboardist Joe Weiseger of Shakedown Street, Dan Merwin from the JD Kelley Blues Band and members of the Dead Zone.
