reading books and comics, music, art, film...I guess that's it...
Friends, fans, folks I'm a fan of, folks who support indie comics, and for God's sake, comics shops! Sorry, ladies! This bronco's been saddled! (Happily married since 2001!)
The Pixies, Pavement, The Archers of Loaf, Treepeople, The Hives, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, Disco, 1970's Funk, bad '80's modern rock, '70's mullet-sportin' hard rock, 1960's Space Age Bachelor Pad music.
any film noir from the 1940's or 1950's (Laura, The Killing, The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, Blue Dahlia, Dead Reckoning, Murder My Sweet, Out of the Past, The Killers, Kiss Me Deadly, Sunset Boulevard, Double Indemnity, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Lady from Shanghai, Touch of Evil, The Third Man). 1930's -'40's horror, especially if it's got Peter Lorre. Anything with Vincent Price, or by Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, or the Coen Brothers... Oh, and maybe the first fifteen James Bond films.
I don't really watch tv. The Twilight Zone, the 1960's Batmans with Adam West and Burt Ward, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, the X-Files, the Simpsons, Exploring the Unknown.
Any dictionary or encyclopedia put out by the Skeptics Society or Michael Shermer. Junior Skeptic Magazine. The four-volume Devil series by Jeffrey Burton Russell. "The Encyclopedia of Witchcraft and Demonology" by Hope Rossell Robbins. Charles Bukowski. Kurt Vonnegot. Jules Verne, H. G. Welles. Classic crime fiction by Raymond Chandler, Dashiell Hammett, James Cain, Cornell Woolrich, Charles Williams, Jim Thompson. Trashy pulp fiction by Mickey Spillane. Ian Fleming's James Bond novels. Exceptionally trashy Doc Savage. And do comics count? Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Alan Moore, Mike Mignola, Wally Wood, EC Suspense and horror and Sci-Fi Comics, Marvel Masterworks and DC Archives (especially Premiani's Doom Patrol and Creig Flessel's Sandman), Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future...
Heroes? What, like Spider-Man? There's no such thing as that stuff.
