About Me

For over the last months of 2006 until now the former members of NULL and VOID have regrouped in the studio. Although these musicians were once dominating the Florida music scene the songs on this page are just simply sessions that have taken place over the last few months. The guys would prefer that you not refer to this music as that of NULL and VOID but something new and not yet named. For now they are just trying to enjoy time together and occassionally capture some of their current sessions now taking place. Eventually these songs and this group may find it's way to the music scene but until then just think of it as artistic brainstorming. In the future this page will only contain the songs of Null and Void...but due to lack of time I have placed them on this page as an insight into where they are now...THIS IS NOT NULL AND VOID...I REPEAT..THIS IS NOT NULL AND VOID.However, until I have the time to build a NEW page I am using this one. Mark Bunton and Bob Hewitt have been recording some of our jam sessions and eventually tracked the ideas resulting in what you hear. But for now we are just enjoying our friendship and hope that at some point this project will become a full fledged band... We do this in tribute to a time and group we all charished from 1989-2001 Null and Void. I guess for now...call it PROJECT 808.....those interested in the history of what once was the MOST Original Sound coming from Southwest Florida...read on!NULL and VOID was formed in 1989 in the outskirts of Fort Myers Florida during the end of the Reagan years. The name was derived from the Headlines of the Newspress when Gorbachev declared the Soviet Union, NULL and VOID. NULL and VOID performed, recorded and oulasted any local band and many Nationals, performing hundreds of concerts from 1989 to 2001. In 1989 thrash music and Death Metal seemed to conquer the local music scene. But it had little influence on what would soon become NULL and VOID's signature sound. Tim Monos (drums) and Brian Kuhn (guitar) hooked up with Mark Bunton (bass) and began forging ahead hoping to develop a Progressive Rock sound but occassionally venturing into pschadelic and acoustics as well. After auditioning several vocalists, they began to get discouraged until Randy Bunton surprised them at a rehearsal. Grabbing the microphone, Randy began whaling out conceptual lyrics that just weren't being written at that time. Randy's wild stage prescence and energy was exactly what they needed. Soon after, NULL and VOID worked their way onto the local stage placing in several competitions and becoming one of Florida's most original bands. Within two years NULL and VOID grew in popularity on a local level. Performing show after show all over the state of Florida. Null and Void soon began to develop their stage show as well utilizing props, extras and spontaneous outbursts. Soon joining forces with several local bands (Bleeding Insanity & Psycho Sativa, among others) and production companies (EZ Productions), they began to organize their own outdoor concerts, drawing crowds into the thousands. By now the people began to demand a demo.(In those days it was still tape) For the next few years they tinkered around with recording but never managed to develop a decent demo they felt worthy of release. Although some leaked out, they sought out a studio to capture what they felt was an original sound. After a number of discouraging studio sessions they traveled to Homosassa Florida and recorded their first official demo at GIMMsong studios. Although the demo portrayed the unique style and original genre they managed to create, it still did not have the quality they hoped for. But the demand was overwhelming. So in 1995, they released The Green Machine, what they now refer to as (the official BEER COASTER). Although the demo managed to get some airplay and opened a number of opportunities, the band was never happy with the end result of the disc. In 1996, they began sessions with local legend, Steve Maitland at Digital Sanctuary Studios. Dubbed the "Crsis Sessions", NULL and VOID finally managed to capture the essence of their sound. "Crisis of Perception" took nearly 2 years to record. But when it was released, the band was in demand. Once again exploding onto the scene, NULL and VOID was dubbed King of the Party and Local favorite by Fort Myers Newspress. Their stage show was so crazy they also drew label attention from MCA, EPIC and a number of Indie labels. Crisis was followed by a compilation CD, "Homegrown for the Homeless" released by 99xWJBX that same year. With the help of Lance Hale and Joe Bell of Beasley Broadcasting, the local scene was bursting at the seems casting NULL and VOID into the mainstream and getting two singles, "Let Me" and "King of the Party" locked into regular rotation on the local radio stations. Soon after, the tracks were being aired across the state in Orlando, Tampa, St Pete, Miami, Pt Charlotte and many more. NULL and VOID once again toured the state performing hundreds of shows. In late 1999, they returned to the studio to record their follow up album titled, "Sins of the Father", with Steve Maitland. The 16 track disc was what they considered to be their BEST material. Null and VOID was constantly pushing their sound and show. After meeting guitarist Bob Hewitt, they decided to bring him onboard to help with their performances as an extra stage hand and eventually a full fledged member. His style and experimental skill earned him the title, "the missing link". SINS of the FATHER was officially released in 2001 following the release of their single, BURIED ME on a compilation CD produced once again by 99x's Lance Hale. "lOCAL x 2001". Again the band was in demand. NULL and VOID performed steadily for the following year. By November of 2001 the pressure of 12 years of touring and the corruption of the industry began to take it's toll on the group. After turning down several record labels, Halogen & Maddog Records, the band decided it was time to take a break. Disbanding after the Holiday Season that year. After a short time in 2002, they began jamming and experimenting with new songs in a group called Idiot Savant, adding Keyboards and vocalist, Rob Keyes, Idiot Savant fought to follow in the footsteps of Null and Void. However, the scene at this point was taking a dark turn. Idiot Savant struggled for two years to emerse themselves into a scene that seemed to move towards the HIP HOP and Boyband trend that seemed to be growing Nation wide. They made two attempts to record their menu of material to no avail. MPM and Wildfire studios just could not deliver what the group was seeking. They abandoned the studio sessions and started building what is now 808 studios lead by BOB HEWITT. They disbanded in 2004.......but thats another story. Bob Hewitt, Mark Bunton and Randy Bunton are currently recording their second album as FAREWELL at 808 studios.....but that too is another story...
