About Me

THE HISTORY April 1999: Three Teramo’s guys, who have transferred themselves from short time to Reggio Emilia Alessandro Caporossi, Generoso Pierascenzi and Alfredo De Vincentiis have played for the first time with the name of Squit Squit at the theatre Cavallerizza in Reggio Emilia. It will follow four concerts, different collaborations and trips: in Albania for a tour at juvenile centers and family homes together with the association “Materiale Resistente”, in Belgium for another tour in the Abruzzi’s community and not only. In fact, the trio proposes a live-set with a strong electronic and experimental matrix and songs in Abruzzi’s dialect. In 2001 they produced the disk named “In fuga” promoting it in the north of Italy with any campaign in the south, including Teramo (Galadrim). June 2003: The trio dissolves itself, so it ends the project Squit, with a great success: the winning of first prize Augusto Daolio. Alessandro and Generoso remain and choose the name of the new group: Gasparazzo, character of ‘70s comic strips (Roberto Zamarin). Turning over page, the band integrates itself with two new elements: the drummer Lorenzo Lusvardi of Correggio (RE) and Daniel Assohoun, bass player of Cote D’Ivoire. The quartet elaborates, thanks to the different socio-cultural origins of the components, a set which becomes easier and rough but contemporarily it integrates rhythms and melodies with rock, reggae and afro disposition, continuing however to use electronics and sampling which accompany songs containing now a good mix between Italian language and Abruzzi’s dialect (teramano) that the audience appreciate and nicely “hum”. September 2004: Gasparazzo’s awards the first prize at the “Festival delle Arti” of Bologna, conceived and directed by Andrea Mingardi. They follow other numerous concerts in the north of Italy and other stop up in Sicily, Puglia, Sardinia, and in Germany too, where the group has found a notable success and just settle concerts and tours for 2005 and 2006. January 2006: The “bastardband”, that’s the way the group loves define itself in the latest periods, plans and realizes an important trip to Africa (Cote d’Ivoire) at the discovery of roots and to the research of sounds and inspirations…The band plays many times at the Jamaika City at the centre PI-WI and at the important Radio Cote d’Ivoire of Abidjan, than people, rasta community, ocean and music’s roots season this “big trip”… From hot of Black Africa to cold of north of Europe, in the street, in public places and in the Squat among Berlin, Monaco, Dorfen, Mittenwald, Gerstried to play and dance with the audience which becomes a unique thing with the band. May 2006: a new disc has been planed and the musicians move themselves inside the band… The new poli-instrumentalist Giancarlo Corcillo (accordion, keyboard, percussions) enters and they change the bass player: Nicola Bonacini ex Caravane De Ville comes and in short time it has been defined a “terrestrial” and “terrone” sound maintaining the party as priority… a folklorist and balcan taste weaves itself with reggae-rock of the last lives. Antifascism and antiracism are fundamental characteristics of the Gasparazzo project’s spirit. Giving more strength to this ideal is to the quintet’s parallel project, which sees musicians in comparison with other artistic realities engaged in shows and installations exclusively tied-up to the partisan memory and to the Italian resistance. This parallel project foresees exactly a different repertoire to the energetic and electric live set of the band in favour of an orchestration “unplugged” which is usually performed in atypical backgrounds: fortresses, urban parks, partisan paths, woods, natural theatres, etc. Another remarkable detail is the important collaboration of the Teramo’s Alessandro and Generoso with the Historical Institute of Contemporary History (ISTORECO), the association “Materiale Resistente” and the director Gabriele Tesauri, who has involved them in projects which are tied up to the memory of Italian resistance through different realizations, among which the recent cd produced by the commune of Nonantola: “Rosso Albero”.Summer 2006: Gasparazzo organizes the realization of the disc in collaboration with the Autonomix (François Lorusso) of Bologna, and records to K-lab in Naples and the Urs Studio in Villa Minozzo (RE) with the amusing collaboration of best men Giuseppe Fontanella (24Grana) and Simone Filippi (Ustmamò).Winter 07 the band get the contact with big independent italian distributors Self Milano and print with them the cd Album Tiro di classe. the cd is out in july 2007 and toghether with it the videoclip of the song Il Bastardo realised by Atomika Video from Milano. Good reaction from the audience and a promotion tour starts in Italy ,Swisse and Germany. The Band appears in the compilation Skannibal party n.7 from Madbutcher records Gottinghen and they realized a Sid Barrett cover for the Compilation Sid Barrett tribute from Octopus records Napoli.Guitar, bass, battery, laptop accordion, voice and chorus: this is the direct and very rhythmical set which makes the concerts festive and painted. myspaceeditor.it
