My Name is Klas Aahman. I am 26 years old and I live in New Mexico, USA. I moved here a year and a half ago from Stockholm, Sweden. People ask me if it's hard to come to a new place and "fit in". Well, I don't know, I guess it depends on what you mean by "fitting in". I'm not trying to be like anyone else, I like being different. I'm an artist. Sure, everyone wants to be loved and accepted. But I have found people to be very accepting of my "different" around here. After all this is a country made by the odd people from around the globe. To the few stiff ones who are annoyed at my eccentricity, I say; I'm not crazy, I'm just not you.
Ever since I can remember music has been a big part of my life. Some of my earliest memories include sitting on the couch in my families small suburban apartment plucking the strings of my dads old guitar, and playing "band" with my brother. Since then, through a little practice, my guitar skills have improved somewhat. It is what I would call my first instrument of choice.
At about ten years of age I started taking piano lessons through a community music program. It didn't last long though, the monotone stiffness of the curriculum made progress tedious and frustrating. I didn't want to practice scales finger techniques, I wanted to rock. Switching to the electric guitar ignited and fueled my initial love of music, like gasoline to a fire, and since then sparks are flying. The guitar remains my closest instrument but I recently started playing and writing music on the piano again, remembering why I fell in love with the instrument so many years ago.
I am very enthusiastic at the possibility of sharing my music with others and finding new inspiration through the medium of MySpace. The possibilities are exciting and truly endless. I hope we can have a giving, inspirational exchange.
Rock on!!
