Trio Corrente

TRIO CORRENTE, is formed by the trio, Edu Ribeiro, Fabio Torres and Paulo Paulelli.
These Brazilian-born musicians posses a musical ability that ascends beyond magnificence.  Their style of music encompasses the genre of Brazilian and American Jazz. 
Collectively, they have performed and recorded with many Brazilian artists, including  Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade, John Alf, Paulo Moura, João Donato, and Toquinho, to name a few. 
In recent years, Edu Ribeiro received the privilege of playing in Europe with Yamandu Costa and his trio. 
Fabio Torres and Paulo Paulelli have performed and toured with the renowned Brazilian singer Rosa Passos and have won acclaim from outstanding musicians such as: John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Paquito de Rivera and Ron Carter. 
Additionally, they have had the pleasure of accompanying the praised rhythms of guitarist Chico Pinheiro...
Edu Ribeiro (Drums), Fabio Torres (Piano) and Paulo Paulelli (Bass) formed “Corrente” in order to play the Brazilian rhythms with a modern flair but without losing its Brazilian origin. 
The album is produced by the Tokyo based Japanese, Guenoshin Yassui, who had the honor of hearing the trio perform in Sao Paulo and immediately presented a contract to record. 
An intricate feature of the album is the presence of the bass and drums as solo instruments.  “Corrente” includes many famous “choros” (Brazilian rhythms) as with “Lamento”, and applies the principle standards and compositions of Bossa Nova. 
The improvisation guides the entire album, with emphasis on solos; note the songs “Lamento” and “Chorinho Pra Você”, arranged by Fabio Torres. 
There is a new version of the well-known “Garota de Ipanema” (Ipanema Girl) and “Triste”, arranged by Paulelli. 
Edu Ribeiro, Fabio Torres and Paulo Paulelli have breathed life into their instruments to bring brilliant improvisations beyond inspiration. Most importantly, the tracks of bass solo “Paulelliando” and piano “Lamento Astral” were composed by the late Moacir Santos.
