The Consumate Gentleman and Eternal Ladies Man

About Me

First off...my real name ....(should anyone not know it) is Archibald Alexander Leach. Did anyone know that Ian Fleming modeled the James Bond character with mostly myself in mind?? no? Well to add insult to injury, when offered, I turned down the role of 007...I also turned down Bogart's role in Sabrina...as well as Peck's role opposite Audrey in Roman Holiday. OH Thanks mainly to the strength and physical dexterity I gained as an acrobat when I was young, I did a majority of my own stunts during my film career (far more than people would think). I was named ..2 on The Greatest Screen Legends actor list by the American Film Institute. I was honored when I heard the late Christopher Reeve said that he based his portrayal of Clark Kent in the Superman films on Cary Grant in the early part of my career. Oh and in case you were wondering why I'm never without my glasses, it's because i'm far-sighted. Most of you don't know this as I kept it rather subdued however Sophia Loren and I had a very passionate affair...one of the greatest romances in my life!!! I maintained a year-round suntan to avoid wearing make up. People were surprised by my retirement in 1966 and, despite the attempts of directors as important as Howard Hawks, Billy Wilder, & even Stanley Kubrick to get me out of retirement and into their films, I never worked again. Until I became the director of Fabergé cosmetics firm in 1966.

Television:

I must admit that I am not a big Fan of television on account of the number of books I've been meaning to read....other than that, there is just never anything good on...

Heroes:

Douglas Fairbanks was my boyhood idol, with Fairbanks' "healthy" tan being the inspiration for my constantly dark skin.
