.. Le ispirazioni poetiche e musicali degli Elisir provengono da molteplici influssi quali il mondo degli chansonniers parigini, l'atmosfera culturale e musicale francese degli anni 30 (Django Reinhardt), ma anche e soprattutto la canzone d'autore italiana. Tutto ciò visto con gli occhi di oggi dove echi di culture lontane si mescolano con le nostre tradizioni, dando vita a melodie e ritmi vivaci ed incalzanti. Elisir nasce nel novembre del 2002 dopo un periodo di ricerche e sperimentazioni del mondo musicale francese da parte di Paola Donzella, ideatrice dell'intero progetto e autrice dei testi. Dopo l'incontro con Paolo Sportelli il progetto si concretizza musicalmente. Paolo è autore di quasi tutti i brani degli Elisir, arrangiatore e clarinettista. La sua esperienza musicale nasce dalla classica per abbracciare poi numerosi generi musicali tra i quali il jazz. È difficile tentare di dare una definizione dell'universo musicale degli Elisir e loro stessi preferiscono non venire etichettati sotto la definizione di un unico genere musicale proprio perché le esperienze da cui ognuno di loro proviene sono diverse e ognuna di queste aggiunge sfumature personali. Senz'altro si può tentare di descrivere la loro musica come una miscela di deliziose atmosfere retrò-swing d'ispirazione francese, ma non mancano poesia e intimità in seducenti tanghi e valzer o racconti ironici, immagini e personaggi pittoreschi in un presente e passato in cui echeggiano sonorità orientali e classiche. L'Elisir rappresenta una pozione dove tutti questi elementi contribuiscono a rendere la miscela musicale e poetica magica e seducente. I testi scritti da Paola nascono prevalentemente da spunti autobiografici sui quali vengono dipinte spesso immagini surreali appartenenti al suo mondo fatto di dolce, ironica e sensuale poesia. Dopo più di quattro anni di concerti e partecipazioni a importanti rassegne jazz (Spring Jazz Festival, Jazz in Metro, Jazz in the Garden, Lago Maggiore Jazz Festival), gli Elisir arrivano nel 2005 al loro primo disco “Il cane che fuma” che vanta la prestigiosa partecipazione di Walter Calloni alla batteria.Nel Marzo 2004 gli Elisir sono arrivati tra i tre finalisti del concorso Creamusica vincendo il premio come miglior testo con il brano “Jazz à Paris”.
Elisir’s poetical and musical inspirations come from many influences, which are the world of the chansonniers parisienne, the French cultural and musical atmospheres of the thirties, the American jazz of the same time, but above all the Italian song writer like the “Paolo Conte” one. All of which is seen in today’s eyes where influences of distance cultures are mixed up with our traditions, giving life to pursuing melodies and lively rhythms. Elisir was born in November 2002 after a period of research and experimentations in the musical French world thanks to PAOLA DONZELLA, creator of the hole project and author of the text writing. After meeting up with PAOLO SPORTELLI the project became musically concrete. Paolo is the author of most of the Elisir’s pieces, he is also improviser and clarinettist. His musical experience began from classical music, going onto different types, one of which was jazz. In 2005 Elisir completed their first record “Il Cane che fuma”, with WALTER CALLONI’s prestigious participation on the drums. From then on Walter becomes a firm member of the group. It is very difficult to try to give a universal musical definition to Elisir and even they prefer not to label themselves under one particular heading because each of them come from different backgrounds and each add their own personal touches. Of course we could try to describe their music as a delicious French inspired back-swing atmosphere, with plenty of intimate poetry with seductive tango’s and valzer’s, ironic stories, picturesque images and people both in the present and past echoing oriental sounds. Elisir represents a position where all these elements contribute to make their music so poetically magical and seductive. The songs written by Paola prevailingly began by taking notes from autobiographies from which often surreal images belong to a world of sweet, ironic and sensual poetry. Elisir performed for more than three yaers at some important Jazz Festival (Brianza Open Jazz Festival, Jazz in Metro, Jazz in the Garden, Lago Maggiore Jazz Festival, Note di Notte etc). In March 2004 they were one of the three finalist in the “Creamusica” competition where they won a prize for the best written song called “Jazz in Paris”.
