Hey, Does Size Really Matter?

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
So These are the dancers?
This isn't Vegas then, is it?

My daughter, Dylan,
and my grandson, Ben Laney IV
Love that laugh!!
If size matters that's cool, because I'm 6'2", I have a big heart (size 777), huge feet (size 13- You should see my TOES!) and a gigantic mouth (Stretched out from putting my BIG FEET in it!). I personally think my knee-caps are larger than normal as well. And yes, I am a little ZANY, but not dangerously so, and I enjoy making people laugh. When I was a kid I wanted to be a comedian, but everyone just laughed at me.
I am a songwriter, singer, poet, artist and a music teacher. I am also learning graphic design the hard way...by making ten thousand (and counting) mistakes!! I enjoy learning new skills and putting them to use.
I have rubbed elbows with the rich and walked alongside the poor. I like people of all sorts, no matter what their station in life, and like meeting and getting to know new people all the time.
One of my favorite quotes is; "God must love common people, he made so many of them", Abraham Lincoln has been credited with that quote. I have found that many ordinary people do not realize how amazing and gifted they are.
I came from humble beginnings in an oilfield town and I am thankful for the smallest and largest blessings. I am learning to keep my eye simple, it makes things appear clearer than they are in the mirror.
I have been a cook, bartender, cotton picker (We used to actually pluck it out of the hull with our bare hands.) oilfield worker, roofer, cement finisher, carpenter, janitor, commercial fisherman, lead singer and rhythm guitarist (in Rock, R&B, Top Fourty, Pop, Country, Alternative and Folk groups), driver, delivery man, cowboy/ranch hand, gas station attendant, security person and too many to mention here.
I am also a sincere student of the Ancient Holy Scriptures and an appreciater of this wonderful creation called earth, which we all live on together.I have been finding that gaining more scientific and historical knowledge is a faith-strengthener.
Are you aware that there are an estimated 50 billion galaxies out there expanding in space? Where, oh WHERE are they all headed?? (I'll give you a dollar if you can tell me quick!!) woooonk! Oh, oh! That was the buzzer, times up! You were so close to winning that dollar, too!
There are a 100 billion stars (and still counting) out there in our Milky Way galaxy! That wasn't any big bang, it was a HUMUNGUS EXPLOSION, wouldn't you say? Haa! Haaaa! Haaaaaa! Is "HUMUNGUS" a scientific, intellectual word?
I ponder over these things. Do you as well? I have big hopes for the future and dreams yet to be realized. Perhaps I'll do a blog on that sometime. Or, maybe this is already too much information ???
Sometimes when I sit at the computer's keyboard or talk to somebody a lot of things spill right out of my one working twisted brain cell. This ain't no video, this is the real world!! I suppose I'll leave it at this for now. Maybe I'll add more later when I get time!
Don't put all your baskets in one egg
Don't hatch your chickens
before they're counted!
Iron while the strike is hot!

Ciao Kids!!

My Interests

People, places, guitar, piano, harmonica, art, graphic design, fishing, horse-back riding, photography, traveling, science, the mating habits of homo sapiens, quantum physics and a lot of other stuff ....Things I can see and things I can't see... really cool stuff! Oh, just give me more time and I would learn so many things and travel so far that You wouldn't see me for a hundred years or more!

I'd like to meet:

Isaiah, Daniel, Moses, David, Ruth, Jeremiah, my Dad, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin,Graham Parsons, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Rita Pearleman, Stevie Nicks, Hoyt Axton's mom, (She wrote Heartbreak Hotel at her kitchen table) Crystal Gale, ordinary fellow human beings or strange aliens would be cool.
I have also invited one of my daughters to myspace. So, Ladies (and gentlemen), I am not a prude, but DO NOT send me photos of yourself unclothed or in sexually suggestive poses. You will be deleted quick. However, if you are a person with higher standards than the norm, no matter what your interests are, just email me and you'll be welcomed to my friends list.
I don't find it difficult to find common ground with others who have different backgrounds. That is, unless you really ARE from another planet. But then again, if you are from another planet, we would have that in common because earth would be a diifferent planet to you!
So e-me any time day or night, as It will not make me lose my train of thought. Haaa! Haaaaa! That train got derailed a long time ago!

Whooo, Whoooo! Whoooo, Whoooooo!

Music:

Now playing:
Bachelor's Dream
by Ben Laney

The song playing on my page is one I wrote in a hotel room between shows. What do you think? Let me know!
I enjoy a wide variety of music, from classical to alternative and a lot in between. As a songwriter, I like songs that have meaningful lyrics; Heartfelt, serious or comical. I am not into any music that degrades women or encourages violence. I listen for the good stuff. Whether Rock, Blues, R & B Country, Alternative, Folk, Jazz, Pop etc, etc it has to grab me by the heart, mind or my funny bone!!

Movies:

Hollywood Schmollywood

A Brave, Brave Soul

"The music business is rough"
-Meghan Aurhtur.

The girl in the above photo is my friend Meghan. She is a singer songwriter who lives in the same area as I do. Meghan is working on a Cd that you gotta check out when it's done. She is seen here wearing her protective head-gear while playing a small accordian out in public. Just suppose a big, burly biker on crack happened by who only likes heavy metal? I tell you, this girl is smart, talented, lovely, funny and she's
a brave, brave soul!

Oh yes, This was supposed to be about movies, huuuuuuh??? ;

Comedy, biograghical, some historical, happy endings, documentaries, science fiction and non-fiction, and historical.

Television:

Television Schmell-A-Vision

----- Pet your dog....Fall off a log....Go for a jog....Run through the fog....Drink some egg nog....Feed your green frog....Then please read my BLOG! -----

I am not one to sit and watch TV a lot, but I do like PBS, Discovery Channel, and concerts which have been recorded live. Why not invite me over and we can watch a video or DVD of something fun. I will spring for the drinks and popcorn, how's that? I like lots of butter on my popcorn so if you don't I'll get you your own bag!!

Books:

The Inspired Holy Scriptures

The ancient Hebrew and Aramaic Scriptures (aka/Old Testament) and the Christian Greek Scriptures, or the so called "New Testament". All together there are 66 books which make the canonized collection of the inspired words of our creator. These are the most important to me, but I also enjoy reading about the life experiences of fellow human beings. Bound for Glory by Woody Gutherie is one example, and there are too many others to list them all.

Heroes:

My hero is Jesus Christ, the greatest man who ever lived. He used his powers to help others never to hurt others. Plus, he hung out with some ordinary, common people...Not with the High and Mighty. Did you ever stop and wonder if he's still doing that now, but from a different realm? Millions and millions of intelligent people are saying yes to that question! You can believe in sawdust, but don't try to breathe it. You can believe there is air, though you have never seen it. Oh yeah. And a little light can go a long, long way!!
