With cultural diversity his primary passion, Australian DJ/producer 'bP' (Brendan Palmer) has been representing the musically 'not so represented' for nearing two decades. In 1992 Brendan started an electronic music collective to establish live performance opportunities for those producers overlooked in his rock-n-roll dominated hometown of Sydney. In 1996 he launched his own record label promoting the cream of the electronic acts he had discovered around Australia.
Later, in 1999, he began his broadcasting career at SBS, Australia's multi-cultural radio & TV network, presenting a national radio show 6 nights a week. It was here that Brendan caught the bug for linguistic diversity, and focused on connecting cultural movements around the globe, all the while honing a solid collection of global music and multi-lingual collaborators.
In 2004 he moved to Melbourne and launched Uber Lingua, an operation dedicated to presenting cutting edge music, events, art and culture in the world's many languages. Since starting a weekly outdoor club in the back alleys of his new home, bP's DJing activity has grown exponentially. During this period bP has played literally hundreds of gigs and sought to promote culturally charged music in most capital cities of Australia.
bP's improvised DJ gigs traverse language, culture, genre, history and social scenes; deliberately defiant of mainstream music fashions, he presents an intersection of underground and outernational sounds that capture his imagination. Roots to Futurism, East to West, Minimal to Maximal are all sonic stops on bP's translingual express.
Simultaneously, Uber Lingua has grown to involve hundreds of like minded individuals and has gone on to present weekly events in Sydney, stages at numerous festivals, a 28 week 7-hour national overnight radio show, and numerous one off events. Recently bP has started working with vocalists, musicians and MCs from diverse cultural backgrounds including Sri Lanka, Cuba, Chile, Japan, Ireland and Macedonia to name a few.
Brendan additionally works as a producer at the legendary Melbourne radio station Triple R during the day and presents the weekly 'Dialectic' radio program on the web and Tasmania's Edge Radio.
