About Me

I am one half of deejay plus sampler/fx outfit Sub Bass Snarl - see www.snarl.org
Playing lots of dubstep and similar bass music (at the moment) and have been at it since 1991!!
I am one of the four people that ran Frigid - a weekly Sunday night of musical entertainment in Sydney which ran for exactly ten years (1996-2006).
I do a radio show called The Paradigm Shift with Seb (the other half of Sub Bass Snarl) on Monday nights at 20:30 to 22:00 AEST on 2SER fm . You can see the playlists here: www.cyclicdefrost.com/radio
I also enjoy mixing live bands and often mix The Herd at their live shows.
I used to work for a company that builds big mixing consoles and am a bit of a nerd when it comes to audio gear.
Now I'm enjoying being a web coding nerd for the Powerhouse Museum.
I keep fish.

My Interests

well filling in these profiles is NOT one of my interests.

however here we go:

i like stuff like weird and/or interesting (and often electronic) music. technology/science/electronics/maths. music making equipment. plants and animals. putting on gigs. making interesting (spicy) food and eating it. drinking. good chocolate (dark is the ONLY chocolate). unix sys admin - now THAT is fun. So is setting up a sound system for a party which you just know is gonna have too much bass. Mmmmm bass..... Tea is another favourite.

i like bats flying overhead at dusk.

i like my cat. a LOT. (see pics section)

i like the joyous bursting forth nature does in spring. Flowers and trees are amazing (and humbling.)

being happy and rained upon simultaneously is nice (and a bit of a feedback loop if you are not careful).

i can see beauty in almost anything. This is not always good.

Music:

there is a very long answer to this question. But mostly BASS music. Dub/reggae, dubstep, hip hop, bleep n bass, acid, electro etc

Movies:

don't get to the cinema all that often. But bleak dark films are often good. Almost anything Eastwood directed. The baby cart series. Takeshi Kitano stuff. The Mechanic from 1972. Ninja movies set in feudal japan etc etc

Television:

is good for when you don't want to think. I vege out in front of it to simpsons, heavyweight tv, mythbusters, SBS news etc

Books:

so many books, so little time. I still have my unix primer, my commodore 64 programming guides (assembly code) and more...

Heroes:
