Every Tuesday we contribute 3% of our gross sales to a charitable organization. Our hope is to increase awareness about these organizations and the good work they do in our community while providing them financial support. We offer our customers a chance to contribute through their purchases -- giving back to the community while getting something they love. We support a different organization each season.

Our current recipient is Released and Restored. Released and Restored provides a 20-week program, "Planning With Purpose" twice a year at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP). This program is available to men of any faith or no faith and it is open to the general population at NSP. It combines a study of the book, "The Purpose Driven Life" with learning and practicing the skills to learn new, constructive ways of thinking to replace the old, destructive ways that lead to incarceration. For further information, please contact: Ruth Karlsson, Executive Director, at 402-806-0565.

After many years of enjoying Brownville, Nebraska for its scenery and relaxing pace, we have decided to join the community and open a small bookshop there. Brownville has a summer theater, concert hall, winery, riverboat tours, museums, several art galleries and a growing number of bookstores. The Lyceum is a lovely bookstore/restaurant that offers a delicious menu that includes homemade pie. (Mmmm...pie...it's all clear to you now, isn't it?)

We think A Novel Idea Bookstore, Chapter Two will be a great adventure. Visit us at 117 Main Street in Brownville, and see what all the buzz is about! Our new shop and its delightful neighbors are open Thursday-Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., April-December.

Haven't made it down yet? Don't worry. We'll periodically add photos to this page so that you can virtually visit and watch our progress as we get to know the little 18 x 24 foot space that we've remodelled and turned into a warm, welcoming bookshop.
