Kate Williams Trio/Quartet/Quintet

About Me

Pianist/composer Kate Williams was born in London into a musical family. Her debut CD ‘Sycamore Song’ was released to critical acclaim in 1999 on the Audio-B label. At the Post Office British Jazz Awards 2000, she received the John Dankworth Award For Talent Deserving Wider Recognition. Kate’s second CD ‘Looking Out’ was released on 33 Records in March 2002. A trio CD ‘Scenes And Dreams’ was launched in September 2005 and was rated in the top ten jazz albums of that year by Mojo magazine. A quintet CD 'The Embrace' (33jazz168) was released in March 2008."You could have heard the proverbial pin drop while Williams spun solos packed with dynamic and textural nuance from her melodic, gently lyrical original material, interspersing it with intriguing visits to modern jazz classics by the likes of Thelonious Monk. A small triumph, not only for Williams and her hair-trigger-accurate rhythm section (lithe bassist Jeremy Brown and brisk drummer Tristan Mailliot), but also for the aforementioned Vortex Steinway, which positively sang under her fingers." Chris Parker.'THE EMBRACE' (33jazz168) NOW AVAILABLE FROM WWW.JAZZCDS.CO.UK
