"My life has been the poem I would have writ, But I could not both live and utter it.." Henry David

About Me

I LOVE MY WIFE! I love my friends! I am a happy, married 33 years, 55 yr old guy this year in July, with 3 great children in their twenties. I love to flint-knap making stone arrow heads, spear points, knives, & other stone tools using copper & (ABO)- antler tools in the old Native American Indian ways. Also love to write, and sketch/paint/work with pastels. I wrote a book called Song of the Eagle, by Steven Kelley which is available at www.authorhouse.com in cd, paperback & hardcover. I never knew for sure where these things spring into my heart from, but they are gifts from the Great Mystery. I was told I was Scots/Irish, as my name would reflect, but not quite sure of my heritage. A few short years ago, I had a chance meeting with an old man cousin that saw my flint-knapping art. He told me a thing I cling to, and hope is true. He said, "I am glad you are finding your path. You have Native American blood in your heart, you know. From your father & I". I only know for sure what is in my heart and there is Truth and Right in the Red paths and ways. Seek the ways of the Ancestors, honor Mother Earth, Father Sky. Unity in all things, we are one, we are one, we are all related, this is my blessing. My mother one time cupped my face, and laughingly said, "Oh Stevie. I am 71 & I still am not sure who I am, and what I want to be". They are all gone to the other side now. But I do not struggle with the issues. I simply accept these gifts that my heart is given, with no clear explaination. I can tell you this...I have always sought to honor these blessings I am given. I just love to write. Good therapy, good for the soul. Some poems are posted at www.poetry.com -access;Steven Kelley. Currently working on present day novel- Jon War Eagle is the old man it revolves around. He is active in my imagination, and is dealing with a lot of my issues((sorry Jon...) And I am always at work on my next sketch, and next flint stone creation, my next writing. I love to make hand tillered bows & arrows in red earth people style, & pte oyate Together Buffalo People style and hand made arrows, but very time consuming! Favorite art is flint-knapping. I am active in Big Bear Lithics(-stone tools & flint knapping). Love the outdoors, just to be in it's embrace is a gift. We love all things of Mother Earth, Father Sky, and the Great Mystery. Native Americans have my heart & soul, the best of all these my wife Lynnie. In my book I wrote the character of Quiet Dove in her image. She remains forever the joy of my life. I celebrate the Great Spirit of Creation that is in all things, and continue to walk close to Mother Earth, and honor Father Sky. Also respect and am tolerant of others views, beliefs and ways. However, I WILL NOT tolerate racism in any form...remembering always that we are ONE, we are all related!! I live in Iowa on a farm of 40 acreas/hills/bluffs overlooking Boone River, near where it meets the Des Moines River. I have had many heart surgeries & proceedures, learned life is a celebration of gifts. I am a survivor, not rich but still dressed in the best robes of Hope, Charity, & Love. Tryin to give it all back away before I pass on.
