About Me

I love music, listening and performing. I play mostly bluegrass that is what I love. I am a member of the White Fox Bluegrass Band. We have been at it off and on since the early 1980's. But you can find me listening to about any style, as long as it is good and has some feeling to it. I especially love the acoustic guitar, not that I have anything against electric,(grew up in the late sixties, early seventies, "Rock and Roll, baby!"), anywho, I just feel like the acoutic, well it is more personal. I remember hearing an interview with Doc Watson, one of the greatest flatpickers ever, and he was asked if he ever played the electric guitar and his comment was "I'd rather play the acoustic and let everyone hear my mistakes." I guess there is just something more intimate about playing an acoustic instrument. I also mess around a bit with other instruments, Dobro, mandolin, etc.. I have started writing my own music. That's something that has just started the last couple of years. I started by writing some poetry. Then one day I was on my way to work and was thinking about my old guitar, my Taylor model 810. Taylor puts out a quarterly paper and call it wood & Steel. I saw that paper and thought that could be a good song. Use to be, I would think something like that then never take the time to develop it. Anyway that was the begining. I have written several since and hope someday soon to get in the recording studio and get them on a CD. Musical influences have been many, I guess about everyone I have listen to who was any good and even some that weren't so good. Like anything else in life, all things that happen to us and around us have an effect on us, good bad or indifferent.
