Hey whats up? my friends call me EM, Welcome to my Abo FlintKnapping profile.
As you can tell by my pics I'm a lythic artist and make arrowheads A.K.A flintknapping. "Abo" describes the tools I use, which are of stone and antler.
Points I've made and on display here are not for sale.
A little personal background: I use to teach K-8 music, I'm a song writer/recording artist (Testing Grounds). I was the founding captain of Pinal County Search and rescue team through Pinal county Sheriffs Dept Desert Survival Team. I love hiking, fishing, hunting, rock climbing, and martial arts. Unfortunately I'm not able to do those things to any extent any longer due to a couple back surgeries, but would love to meet people who are interested in those activities.
Today I get a kick out of life by expressing myself through my artistic expressions of music and lythic sculpting/flintknapping. The arrowheads I make are called Elfshot, you probably ask "what is elfshot?".
Still today, in the fields of Ireland, Elfshot (arrowheads) and Thunderstones (axe heads) can be found. Irish lore describes Elfshot not just to be arrowheads, but elvish magic, or mischief as well. It’s believed that during the stormy nights the fairies and elves would throw Elfshot and Thunderstones (axe heads)causing a thunderous crash, hence Thunder. As is the same in most other cultures lore, the Irish believe Elfshot brings good luck.
My Elfshot has native roots as well, my grandfather is buried at a place of honor upon a mountain on the Gila River Indian community. Gila River is also where I lived for 12 years knapping and learning much more.. My flintknapping is also influenced by an elder, mentor, friend, and someone I called grandfather as customary. His name is Jim Fire Eagle, Former Chief of the Northern Aztec Tribe... He was a powerful person, kind, and I look forward to seeing him on the other side one day. Jim was also a humble man, I did not learn he was chief of his tribe until years after he passed...
If you have any questions feel free to ask, I will share what I know freely...
Good on you
