About Me

Alex Silver is a Sydney based trombone player. She has studied with many great musicians worldwide including James Greening, Dave Panichi, Mike Nock (piano), Scott Kinmont, Wycliffe Gordon, Ray Anderson, Alex Iles, Mark Nightingale as well as spending an extensive period of time studying on an Australia Council Arts grant in Basel, Switzerland with Adrian Mears. She was the winner of the inaugural Jann Rutherford Memorial Award in 2005 and Highly Commended in the 2006 IAJE Women's Collegiate Competition. Over the years she has performed with James Morrison, John Morrison, Don Burrows, Dale Barlow, Jackie Orszaczky, Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, Ben Jones to name a few. She currently works freelance with various ensembles including her own group - The Alex Silver Quartet.
