About Me

Radio and TV presenter Jenny Huston is best known as the presenter of RTE 2FM's flagship rock shows, The Waiting Room and The Annex, but has extensive radio and TV experience, including everything from kids TV shows to global music events.Canadian-born to Irish parents, Jenny joined RTE 2FM in 2003, having cut her broadcasting teeth with Radio Kilkenny and then-legendary Dublin pirate, Phantom FM. Her arrival at the national broadcaster made an immediate impact with Ireland's rock-hungry masses, and Jenny quickly developed a reputation for her in-depth knowledge of rock history, while simultaneously giving a platform to emerging talent, Irish and international. The Waiting Room, a combination of the best breaking acts and classic indie pop and rock, became firmly established as the place to hear quality alternative music on Irish radio, while The Annex proves that Jenny is not afraid to dig into the past, unearthing three hours of classic rock anthems every Saturday night. Two nominations for Best Irish DJ at The Meteor Awards, Ireland's answer to The Grammies, proved that Huston had hit the cultural zeitgeist head-on.Jenny is also a weekly contributor to The Gerry Ryan Show, one of Ireland's longest-running and most enduringly popular radio shows. Unapologetically risqué, the show is probably single-handedly responsible for dragging Ireland kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, and Jenny continues its brave, adventurous broadcasting theme, with features on everything from toxic friendships to explaining the intricacies of football to Ireland's soccer-widows. She has also been a regular contributor to shows as diverse as DriveTime with Mary Wilson, The Dave Fanning Show, The Tubridy Show, The Arts Show, Rattlebag, Morning Ireland and Pat Kenny, and presented RTE 2FM's Sunday evening magazine show, The Snug in 2005/06, covering everything from the emergence of coffee culture to managing your money in modern Ireland, as well as the latest album reviews. On television, Jenny joined host John Kelly as a presenter for Other Voices season 6. She interview bands and presented the new stage the 'Other Room'. Jenny anchored RTE's coverage of the global Live Earth music event in July 2007, while she also helmed the station's live broadcast from The Electric Picnic in September 2006. Jenny has also contributed to The Late Late Show, Seoige & O'Shea, The Panel, Off The Rails, TTV, The Once A Week Show, Ice, The Big Bite, ID+, The Cafe and Dustin's Daily News.Jenny also presented The Irish Sessions unsigned music podcast on the Coke music website and regularly presents in-flight audio entertainment for Aer Lingus.A Psychology graduate from the University of Victoria, Canada, Jenny also has a Higher Diploma in Arts Administration from UCD, and managed award-winning Irish theatre company, The Corn Exchange, from 2000 to 2003.http://www.rte.ie/2fm/jennyhuston
