Dobi Kwe is a UK singer/songwriter/producer whose passion for music was first ignited at young age through her parent’s extensive collection of both African and Western music.
Born in Nigeria and later moving to London, one of Europe’s leading music capitals, she soon became a part of her South London church choir. This experience, along with attaining a Grade 6 in classical piano and Grade 5 in singing, only served to further nurture the young artist’s creativity.
Apart from being a classically-trained pianist and vocalist, Dobi is a self-taught bassist and amateur DJ. She also has a degree in the History & Philosophy of Science from University College London. This versatility coupled with strong Gospel roots, as well as experience already gained in vocal recording and production, has contributed to a sound that is uniquely hers. Always the consummate performer, her natural stage presence and captivating vocals ooze confidence while retaining an element of vulnerability that gives audiences something to remember.
Drawing inspiration from the R&B, Pop, Jazz and Soul worlds, some of Dobi’s personal influences include the likes of Sade, Toni Braxton, Lauryn Hill, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, and Stevie Wonder; it’s no wonder then that this singer/songwriter is capable of creating music that transcends both trends and time. Behind the scenes, Dobi also works with her brother Yugy as one half of the song-writing and production team, U&I. Their work ethos is based on promoting positive music and lifestyle values stemming from their Christian faith and has thus far been the driving force responsible for crafting the artist’s sound. Dobi Kwe’s very own life experiences are what she brings to the world through her music and undoubtedly will become a talking point for every listener who discovers this exciting new talent. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
