STATEMENT FROM CHRIS DANIEL
Hi everybody.
I've only got a second now, more to come in a day or two. We found out about Free FM's demise after our day show yesterday. We did not know that it was our last show.
Free FM's dead in the Bay Area. It may be dead in all of its markets. They have their reasons, I guess. Yet, putting up a format and station in it's place that they just canned 6 months ago (KFRC) seems a strange substitute for success.
All of the other shows on Free FM are syndicated, sort of. Enough so that their various contracts require CBS to play them through. That's why they are going to be played for a while on CBS' 1550. The signal is very bad. Our contract, however, did not state that. Our contract is fairly silly, actually.
Anyway, enough right now. Brad, Erica and I are feeling really, really sad and need to process this. As soon as we do, there will be more. And, yes, we will try to do the Gray Area on another Bay Area station. Wherever we go, we will most certainly let those who cared enough to write and/or call know where we are 'tarding out.
I cannot say thank you enough and Brad and I will be saying thank you in a better way as soon as we get these banana peels off of our feet. It's only been a few hours since they killed what we called THE Job.
Any questions any of you have are more than welcome, as well as any replies.
You WERE the franchise, as we liked to say. God knows the KIFR sales staff wasn't. Muahaha!!
Mahalo nui loa,
Chris Daniel

STATEMENT FROM BRAD GIESE
Friends,
It is with a truly heavy heart that I must confirm that Free FM is indeed dead, and with it unfortunately "The Gray Area" as well. Chris and I have worked very hard and poured our hopes and dreams into our show, and it is listeners like you who have made our efforts exciting and worthwhile. We are now trying to find a new home for our show, and it is our desperate hope that we will. In a time of heartbreak like now it is so wonderful to have such an outpouring of affection and best wishes from you all. Rest assured we will do everything in our power to get "The Gray Area" back on the air here or somewhere else, and we will make sure to tell any and all who want to know, how it can be heard. Thank you for making our show, your show.
Live well,
Brad Giese

NOTICE:
CBS Radio pulled the plug on 106.9 Free FM this afternoon. The decision appears to have been made this afternoon (5/17/07) and there is no indication that this was a pre-meditated format change. CBS Radio's web page still has 106.9 Free FM listed on their directory.
Chris and Brad advised that they found out this afternoon, apparently without any kind of notice, etc.
Check back soon for updates on Chris and Brad, as well as any further Free FM information.
