THE BAND “LA LUNA DE LA BENDICION” The band was formed in the year 2003 by the guitarist Marco Delgado (www.marcodelgado.com) for the purpose of playing devotional music in a contemporary mode while maintaining a traditional Hindu style by singing the ancient Vedic Mantras in their original Sanskrit language. In the beginning they were greatly influenced by the Titiskaya Band and themes interpreted by George Harrison. Shortly there after they came under the influence of the wonderful band Transcendence. For all those musicians they hold a great appreciation and admiration for their great contribution to devotional music. La Luna de la Bendicion promotes the Sankirtan (chants offered to Sri Radha-Krishna) which were the teachings of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu based on the Vaisnava lineage. The band has been participating and supporting especially the devotees of ISKCON (Internacional Society of Krishna Conciousness), and the Cultural Center of Prabhupada in many festivals and events. To better understand this band we could compare it with Krishnas flute. It was the instrument that was used to enchant the souls of the people to feel His presence and guide them back home, using the grand universal language called “Music”. Since their first presentacion in the 1st Ratha Yatra of Mexico City the band has had the participation of many musicians and devotees .In that occasion it had the presence of Rolando Reyes (guitarist) and Enrique Valera alternating on the bass, a Saxofonist, and Teyas Vit Dasa, “jamming”. So thru these different presentacions it doesn’t fail that someone will come on board to sing, play percussions or Hindu cymbals. This is the idea behind the band, La Luna de la Bendicion.To give those people (devotees or not) who feel a strong desire and sufficient dedication to sing for Krishna(SanKirtan). In the begining of 2004 the band started recording it’s first CD independently. It was recorded and produced by Marco Delgado(Macdel Productions--) with the collaboracion of the guitarist Gustavo Balbuena in the mixing and the cover design by the Estonian designer Heli Kubja. This CD contains many themes that have been translated into Spanish by S.Balarama Dasa, one of which (Govinda) was an arrangement made by George Harrison. This song is used by all the temples ,in the mornings to greet the deities. All of this is with the idea that people can feel the intentions of these songs. Presently the band is in the process of working on an acoustic version of this material. El grupo promueve el Sankirtan (Cantos ofrecidos a Sri RadhaKrsna) basados en el Linaje de Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (HARE KRSNA);y ha estado apoyando y participando con los devotos Vaishnavas,en especial con ISKCON (Sociedad Internacional Para la Consciencia de KRSNA) y los devotos de Centro Cultural Prabhupada en muchas de las festividades y eventos. En sus inicios,la gran influencia fue Titiksava Band,de los cuales interpretaban temas,asi como de George Harrison,pero muy pronto tomarian la gran influencia de la estupenda banda "Trascendence", músicos todos estos a los que el grupo tiene un agradecimiento y admiracion por su gran contribucion a la musica devocional. Para entender mejor a la banda,podemos compararla con la flauta de Krishna,que es el instrumento através del cual encanta a las almas de los seres,haciendoles sentir Su prescencia y guiandolos de regreso a casa,valiendose para esto del gran idioma universal llamado "MÚSICA". Desde su primer presentacion en el 1er Ratha Yatra Cd. de Mexico,muchos músicos y devotos han tocado junto con La Luna de la Bendición,en esa ocasion tuvimos a Rolando Reyes (guitarra) y a Enrique Valera alternando en el bajo,ademas como un saxofonista,y Teyas Vit Dasa " palomeando" ,y asi através de las diferentes presentaciones,no faltara quien se suba a cantar o tocar percusiones y cártalos,de ahi que La Luna de la Bendición es una oportunidad para todas aquellas personas (devotos o no) que de verdad tengan la suficiente dedicación,y sobre todo ganas de cantar para Krishna(Sankirtán). A inicios del año 2004 el grupo comenzó la grabación de su 1er. disco,el cual fue de creación independiente; grabado y producido por Marco Delgado(Macdel Productions --), ademas de ser mezclado por el mismo con la colaboracion del Guitarrista Gustavo Balbuena;Y con un diseño especial en portada por parte de la Diseñadora Estoniana Heli Kubja. En este disco se incorporaron algunos temas los cuales fueron traducidos al español por S.Balarama Dasa, uno de ellos (Govinda) con arreglos de George Harrison, el cuál es usado al inicio del día en todos los templos para recibir a las deidades;Todo esto con la idea de que la gente pueda sentir la intención de estos cantos. Actualmente la banda esta grabando nuevo material tanto en el mismo estilo (Rock) en composiciones originales,como en version Acustica en el cual se puede sentir un sonido mas tradicional Hindu, el cual estara a la venta proximamente!!!
