Hand on heart I’d say I’m a guitar player. Over the last thirty years or so I’ve played on recordings for artists like David Bowie, Jimmy Little, Kylie Minogue, Karma County, David McCormack, Paul Mac, Bernie Hayes, King Curly, Lyall Adonis and some more. But mostly I’ve laid around my couch watching television and having a strum during the ad breaks, that’s where most of my songs turn up. I started tooling around with recording machines in my teens which led me on to producing my own records and then other people’s including two ARIA award winners - Jimmy Little’s "Messenger" (1999) and Karma County’s "Into The Land Of Promise" (2000).I’ve dabbled in film soundtracks and want to do more, so call me, I’m your sound designer guy OK. Over the last twelve years or so I’ve been playing, recording and touring with Karma County. Five albums and a lot of miles, our “best of†is all done and dusted and waiting for the right time to release. In ’94 I was minding my brother’s second hand tool shop in Sydney for a coupla weeks, it was kinda slow, so amused myself by writing The Open Tuning Chord Book For Guitar. Published it myself and have been selling it from my web site (brendangallagher.com.au) – all sorts buying it, Lithuanians, Irish, Brits…. even Americans. Occasionally I'm lucky enough to give copies to people I like – Bowie, Peter Buck, Paul Kelly, Tim Rogers, Amanda Brown, Spencer P Jones, Daniel Johns etc. If you wander over to my real web site you can listen to more tracks from my solo album that came out late 2006.What else? Errrr… occasionally play in the Dead Marines with Bow Campbell and Bernie Hayes (just finished producing his new album, nice). Lately teamed up with Dave McCormack, Jim Elliott (Cruel Sea) and Michael from KC to play country music. We’re called The Millionaires. Country and prog really since McCormack has been bringing a synth along to gigs. We have an album ready to go too.
