If you have fallen out with British comedy, there is no better remedy than the up and coming comedian Willis.Willis made his comic debut in October 2006 when he performed on a university comedy tour. He has since performed in subsequent tours working alongside well known acts such as Richard Blackwood as well as appearing in a range or events, including Kojos comedy club and Oh Sugar. He is currently showcasing in venues around the country and the world…well Amsterdam…not that he wants to toot his own horn beep beep. If he hasn’t hit your town yet his regular myspace news casts bring the news the way Trevor McDonald never could. Each episode takes away the guilt of spending too much time on myspace by hitting us with a little bit of reality, oh and he wanted a reminder to Keisha to come and pick up her weave. If you do get the chance to be part of his audience, there is no doubt that you will be given the opportunity to have a good laugh at yourself and the person sitting next to you who has probably done the exact same thing as you. He incorporates topics that we can all relate to; creating a sense of unity within the crowd.Best moment on stage: “At a gig when no one laughed – even though they didn’t find it funny I thought I was wicked that night, pricksâ€Modesty isn’t one of his strong qualities but he makes up for that with his genuine enjoyment of the stage and the crowd. He truly embodies his belief that “there is an art to making people laugh†by an incorporation of his modern outlook and abstract comicality. Having attended an all boy’s school where he felt the only way to survive was to fight or be funny (and having not been the biggest person around to say the least) he picked funny.“I remember watching the greats on the TV and thinking I can do that – I think†One of the main reasons for his growing success seems to be his complete lack of fear. He has no reservations in his deliverance- meaning that no one safe from his “comical genius†as he so humbly puts it; even his cousin Tineka. His ambition is to become a household name, but it is down to the judgement of his audience to decide what for. If Willis hasn’t hit your town yet, I can assure you that he is not far off, so be prepared.
