About Me

**STOP PRESS** A live version of Dirty Bitch Tango is available on a compilation benefit CD for The Junction...it only costs five pounds - click here to get it:
Redd is basically me, Kate Salisbury, a Bristol songwriter, plus a loose collective of local musicians. I like to specialise in catchy tunes and am proud to wear the badge of pop (of the guitar-based variety) and just occasionally, get talked into doing live shows...sometimes solo, sometimes with extra vocalists and people who can actually play their instruments properly.
Vocalists of choice are Amy Schroeter (also in the Pindrop Band), Ali Orbaum (Director of The Gasworks Choir and co-founder of the a capella group, Naked Voices) and Hilary Steven (from The Shrinks). Chris Andrews (from Hot Flush), Nicole Jackson and Jade Rozell have also lent their singing talents to Redd over the years.
Collaborators extraordinaire include Dave Lewis, who's helped me get many of the songs into shape, occasionally accompanies with bass and other types of guitar and has recorded, mixed and mastered a load of my demos in his Bristol-based studio. He's also a member of The Shrinks.
The boys from Audioshelter studio, Nick Atkins and Dave Colebrook have also featured on drums and bass and have been busy recording and mixing Dirty Bitch Tango.
Steve Treble, who owns and runs Treble Rock music shop in Bristol is a recent addition to the band, adding electric guitar to the live shows.
The other important person to mention is Toby Field, whose piano can be heard on some of the big ballads - he's got one of them on his own MySpace site. He's also an occasional member of Clumsy and a regular with the Roger Tarry band.
Other itinerant drummers and electric guitarists are roped in when needed and although I'd love one of my songs to set me up for a life devoted only to writing more songs...the main reason I do it is 'cos I loves it. I also love going to gigs and am enjoying almost total immersion in the brilliantly vibrant Bristol music scene. My trusty camera comes along too and the results of my efforts can be seen in the slideshow above and in the picture gallery. More will be added all the time.Posh pix of me are by Mark Simmons.
