David Shields

David Shields was born in Alnwick Northumberland on October 22nd 1964. He has been a session bass player for many years working with a multitude of musicians,from the early years with Pass The Cat,English Accent aka Andy Cowling,( Matt Bianco ,Aztec Camera) to The Meljays ,Cliff Richard(sorry!!) The Swans,( Mike and the Mechanics,David Essex,Elton John),and Sophie Ellis Bextor.David has also worked with some of the countrys finest Jazz musicians,too many to mention. He recently played a few gigs with the brilliant Martin Stephenson,(the very first impromtu moment is caught on camera)"A thrill and a joy". He is currently working on a solo project which will encompass a collection of his works featuring a selection of guest appearances from chosen players. This will culminate in David's debut solo CD album, which will be available, hopefully, in early 2007. This site will be managed by David's brother, Pete Shields. Both Pete and David(when possible) will be glad to answer any questions relating to David via the site.
