Penelope Somerville is 19 years old and lives near Bendigo in Central Victoria........
Penelope has had a love of music from an early age where she acquired her first violin at the age of 2, and then beginning formal lessons at the age of 5. Her love of music encouraged her to play other instruments - guitar, drums and mandolin, which she is all self taught. She then entered her first talent quest at 8 years old at the Mildura Country Music Festival........
Penelope has continued to visit Tamworth Country Music Festival every year since 1999, winning many trophies and prizes, including – Instrumental section for six consecutive years. She also won other vocal sections and 3 scholarships to attend Camerata (junior country music school for selected students under 18 years). Penelope’s latest notable wins at Tamworth were Junior Overall Winner in 2004 and Junior Entertainer of the year in 2006.
In 2004, Penelope attended the Mildura country music festival and won Junior Overall, Grand Overall and Junior Victorian Champion of Champions........
Recently she returned to Mildura in 2006 where she won the Victorian Senior Champion of Champions, as well as winning an invitation to compete in the “Trans Tasman Entertainer of the Year†at Norfolk Island in May 2007.
Penelope has been a finalist in the National Telstra Road to Tamworth quest, winning heats at Bendigo, Whittlesea and Frankston........
Penelope has performed at the Tamworth Opening concert representing the Camerata school, and has been a guest for the Tiara awards as well as playing in the backing band when only 13 years old. Penelope has also performed at the Roll of re-known concert and been guest artist at many venues throughout Victoria........
Penelope has performed for the Bendigo Carols by Candlelight and was invited to perform on the Commonwealth Games Queens Baton relay concerts in Bendigo, Ballarat and Ararat during 2005........
November 2006, Penelope was support act for Troy Cassar-Daley at St.Arnaud, where there was a sold out show!........
Penelope is currently playing fiddle for "The McClymonts" in their band, and has got a busy schedule with them........
Penelope is hoping for a successful and professional career in music with her vocal talents and instrumental abilities, and to travel with it....
