Randal Terrens has been playing with his instrument from an early age and has no plans for stopping anytime in the forseeable future. Born in Sydney and raised in Noosa, Randal began his professional music career at 16 playing in local restaurants and cover bands. He attended the Qld Conservatorium of Music for a couple of years before touring Queensland with popular cover band APPLEJACK in 1980 and TIGHTROPE in 1983. Moving to Melbourne in 1985, Randal joined top cover band STEALERS and then up-and-coming original band THE CRY in 1986.
After a few years in the wilderness (during which time he became a driving instructor!) playing solo gigs in bistros and bars, he became a founding member of the now legendary John Mellencamp tribute band SCARECROW, featuring such names as Gary Dean Young (Cattletruck), Chris Stockley (Axiom, Dingoes, Jimmy Barnes) & Steven (Irish) O'Prey (Badloves). SCARECROW ran for nine years, played over 2500 gigs and had its own spin-off original band HARD ROAD which scored a couple of residency stints at the West Tamworth Leagues Club during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The 2000s saw the onset of freelancing and Randal enjoyed working with various musicians and vocalists such as Mick Pealing (Stars), Angus Birchall (John Farnham), Gary Carruthers (Kasey Chambers, Melinda Schneider) to name a few.
In 2004 Randal moved back to sunny Queensland and is now emerging as a much sought after keyboard player, working regularly with Travis Collins, Cat Southern, Luella Widt and The Smokin' Crawdads.
In April, 2007, Randal was privileged to tour the Middle East with the Australian Defence Force's "Tour De Force" backing Cat Southern. It was an experience of a lifetime!
Randal hopes to continue this year's successes in the future.
