I grew up and constantly feel as if I live in a woman's world. I was raised by wolves, no I'm kidding. I was raised by four women for the most part, my mom, grandmother and two great aunts. My current household is my wife, Mindy, and my daughter Megan.
After high school and college, I've been a Geoffrey kid, a DJ, a substitute teacher, a master control operator at a TV station, and worked primarily in banking and tax financial businesses since 2000, well except for a brief six-month stop in Atlanta, when I worked at Mailboxes, Etc.
I do feel lucky to be here. I almost died two days after Christmas in 1992 when doctors found out I was OD'ing on sugar drinks and developed diabetes. I laid in a coma for almost two days. When I woke up, I knew I had a reason for being here, I just wasn't sure what it was.
After a 16-month journey of life trying to find out why, I gave my life to Christ (April 7, 1994, 11:30ish pm). I lived the next six years trying to figure out what that meant and had a horrible first marraige to show for it.
Once I got my freedom in 2000, I moved to Florida and took a couple banking jobs. I also worked extensively in teen and singles ministries. In the singles ministry, I met my wife of four years, Mindy. We got married on October 26, 2002 and began a wild journey that sometimes I feel never stops. We spent six months in Atlanta with her job, she is a radiation therapist, and moved to Effingham, Illinois on May 3, 2003.
She accepted an offer to work at the cancer center here and after a short-lived youth ministry leadership, I went to work at H & R Block in 2003. Right now, I am looking at pursuing my writing and getting my paperwork in order to substitute teach.
As I said, we have a little girl, Megan. She is a little over 18 months as I write this, born 4/4/05. She was born on the opening day of baseball season, the game I love the most. We are expecting a son on or near January 25th, 2007. We are going to name him James Ryan, after the two men that introduced Mindy and I back in 2002.
