SAWUBONA!
I was born in Hamburg (Germany) and grew up in Swaziland (Southern Africa). I’m used to traveling, because my family lived in places like Jakarta/Indonesia, Spain, Sudan, Qatar or now in Awassa/Ethiopia, and I now reside in London, UK

I am a singer, musician (saxophone & piano) and songwriter. I started working at the Baysound Studio in Hamburg when I was 12 years old and continued writing, recording and practicing there about 20 hours a week for the next 5 years.

When I was 17, I played a solo concert at a big venue in Hamburg and because of that I got signed to Sony Music a year later. I then worked with a lot of teams from Sweden, Germany, USA & UK, also wrote songs in my own studio at home and played gigs with different bands.

In spring 2005, I got dropped like many other artists because of the SonyBMG merger and therefore a new internal management and new teams.
As an unreleased artist, it didn’t cause any damage to me personally, pretty much the opposite: I’m very grateful for my time with Sony, it was an important experience. I made many contacts, learned a lot about the business, but most of all, about myself. That change only made me more motivated and ambitious than I’d ever been before:
I put my own 10-piece band together, a team I had met through Sony launched my website, I played gigs in Germany (e.g. liveDEMO in Berlin where I performed with rap legend Kurtis Blow…) and other countries, hooked up more writing sessions and just kept going…

I had a few releases as a songwriter, for instance the Italian version of “Not Enoughâ€, performed by the Italian pop idol winner Antonino Spadaccino, went to No. 3 in Italy, stayed in the Top10 for 12 weeks and was 32 in the Euro Top200. The same song also got released on an album by the first and biggest selling german pop idol winner.

--------
In 2006, I started working as a tutor at the “Studio of Young Artists†(check www.soyagesang.de), a really good private school for singing and acting. I had two classes with students between 19-28, and my subjects were background vocals and studio training.

At the same time, I did my community service (instead of armee.. hell no!) at my local church and community center. My biggest achievement during that time was organizing services on Sunday nights called “Praise Him! Gospel Church for Ethiopiaâ€, on Christmas eve we even did the midnight mass with a full band, a 20-piece gospel choir, guest singers Love Newkirk & Tony Potts from the US and songs by Smokie Norful, J.Moss, Marvin Sapp as well as traditional gospels... All the while, I played other gigs all over Germany and wrote tunes for artists in Germany and the Netherlands.

This year I felt it was time for another, bigger change, so i packed my stuff and moved to London, where the journey continues...::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

SWAZILAND, a tiny Kingdom in Southern Africa where I was raised, is the most affected country in the world by HIV/AIDS. Nearly half of the Swazis are infected with the terrible virus...
ETHIOPIA, where my parents live now still doing delevopment work, is the poorest country in the world. If you want to SUPPORT my parents' projects, for example a new orphanage they've just opened, please send me a message and I'll be happy to provide you with more information and bank details.
Having traveled to Ethiopia put a lot of things into perspective for me once again.
Today there are 6.5 billion people in the world: More than 4 billion people live of less than 2 US Dollars per day... 850 million suffer from hunger... 1 billion lack safe drinking water. By the year 2040 an estimated 9 billion people will live on our planet.. All together we want to keep on enjoying world's precious resources and its wonderful nature... Nobody can change the world alone.. but EVERYBODY can make a little contribution to make it a better place!

God bless…! Peace & Love, Mo Brandis
