The Sea Trio are a 4-piece electronic/ guitar outfit from
Philadelphia, PA. The band formed onstage in Fall 2006 and has since
played regularly in Philly and New York, including shows at World Cafe
Live, the North Star Bar and the Khyber, often with guest horn players
from the Sun Ra Arkestra. They have played on bills with bands such as
Black Moth Super Rainbow, Nomo, The Breakfast and Grimace Federation.
Stuart Brooks (guitar), Ephraim Asili (electronic beats), Andy Schwartz
(keys) formed the band with a shared taste for early-70s electric
Miles Davis albums, and the music now combines that textured jazz
sound with elements of dub, funk, electronica and experimental rock. The SEA Trio now also includes Jennie Portney on effects processed clarinet!!
Every Sea Trio set is a foray into the unknown, basing improvisations
on themes that flow seamlessly over their set. With engaging films and visuals
playing in the background, the band creates a mesmerizing onstage multimedia
experience that is different every time they play.
