A Plan of Action for a Planet that Rocks!
We are working with The CampusClimateChallenge.org , StopGlobalWarming.org , FocusTheNation.org , TheNewAmericanDream.org , StepItUp2007.org , nrdc.org , grist.org , DoSomething.org , and many other incredible groups to help build and strengthen the growing network of activists that is working to make the world sustainable.
Energy. Ecology. Society.
Founded by musician Jonny Dubowsky, Rock 'n Renew is committed to the practical pursuit of environmental health and sustainability. As Jonny’s
band--Jonny Lives!--met with increasing success, they began to undertake
frequent tours of over 10,000 miles each. Concerned about fuel consumption,
Jonny researched bio-diesel as an alternative to gasoline and ultimately
transformed the group's tours into carbon-neutral events. From this initial
commitment, Rock 'n Renew grew into a multi-faceted organization with the
resources and connections to make real environmental change happen. Its
target areas of action--Energy, Ecology, and Society--represent a
three-pronged approach that urges conservation, promotes stewardship, and recognizes collection action as the best way to protect our future. With an unapologetic rock-culture sensibility and an ever-changing list of innovative events, Rock ‘n Renew puts environmental responsibility center-stage, with a unique artistic edge.
What Can You Do?
In everyone of your daily actions, try and think about the impact it will have on the planet. Could you get a Cool Canteen and fill it with filtered tap water, instead of buying that plastic water bottle that came from Figi (that's a lot of gas, and a lot of miles for you to get a drink of water!) Are you really going to throw that soda can in the trash? Can't you find a recycling bin to put it in? If there isn't a recycling program in your town or city, find out WHY? Get your friends together and TAKE ACTION.
