Chicklish

Chicklish is a joint blog by YA chick lit readers and writers Zoe Lea, Luisa Plaja and Keris Stainton. We started the blog as a place to promote British YA chick lit authors, but we love American authors too.

Reading teen chick lit is one of my favourite pastimes.
I've enjoyed it for yonks. Ever since I got my hands on the Sweet Valley High series and the classics by Judy Blume, I've been addicted. I've always wanted to write the stuff and managed to get some of my short stories published in Jackie magazine when I was a teenager.
Since then, I've been writing other bits and bobs and I've just finished my first teen novel. I've got ideas for loads more teen novels so I'm looking for an agent who will help realise my dream of having my name on the cover!

I am Teen Chick Lit Girl, um, Woman. I started reading young women's YA fiction way before I was a teenager and I realised in my twenties that I was never going to stop. My dusty Francine Pascal and Judy Blume collection has grown via Katherine Applegate and Mary Hooper to Jaclyn Moriarty, Sarra Manning, Megan McCafferty and the goddess of Teen Chick Lit herself, Meg Cabot.
As a teenager, I wrote love stories and photo stories, some of which were published in my favourite magazines. [MID-SHOT OF SHOCKED SUE, POINTING AT BILL. BUBBLE READS: "You two-timing rat!"]
I've never stopped wanting to be a writer, although real life gets in the way on and off. I've worked as a dictionary editor, proofreader and subtitler and I now work in linguistic software development. I also have two young children, a boy and a girl.

Keris
My first obsession was Sweet Dreams Books. I read as many as I could get my hands on. I LOVED them. I've recently bought a few of my favourites: Thinking of You, P.S. I Love You. Try ebay.
Anyway. I've never stopped reading teen lit even though I stopped being a teen a loooong time ago and now I write it too. I've recently finished my first YA book FORGET ME NOT (you can read a bit here ) and signed with a fab agent.
Apart from teen lit, I love US TV shows, especially Gilmore Girls, Buffy, Friends, Will & Grace and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I'm in love with Seth Cohen even though I'm old enough to be his mother. Starbucks makes me happy. One day I intend to live in New York. I also fancy travelling around Europe in a camper van (with a satellite dish).
I'm married and have a gorgeous two-year-old son named Harry.
