Salty Dog is well known in Durban and surrounding areas and has built up a reputation as a hard-working, professional and entertaining party band.
Started by Errol ‘Smelly’ Fellows, Gordon Jackson (Judge) and the late Kevin Mason, the band, which then was a six-piece outfit, played its first un-rehearsed gig at Thirsty’s on 1 November 1996.
Taking the name ‘SALTY DOG’, from the Procol Harum song and album ‘A SALTY DOG’.
Today, this four member band still astounds and electrifies audiences with two of its original members; Gordon Jackson on Lead Guitar & Lead Vocals, Errol ‘Smelly’ Fellows on Bass, driven by Graham Buckle on Drums & backing Vocals, who joined the band in 2000, and backed by the latest member Mike Jones on Rhythm Guitar & Backing Vocals. The band’s repertoire is varied, ranging from the 60’s to the 80’s and includes various genres, e.g. rock, country, sing a-longs, rock and roll, blues and pop.
